McDavid to Florida for:

Aaron Ekblad with 1 million retained.

Alexander Barkov with 1 million retained.

Oilers get a potential #1 defenseman (with health issues) and a potential #1b center to along with Leon. The salary retained makes it worth it for the Oilers in terms of cap.

The hockey value of this deal is in favor of Edmonton if only slightly IMO. The market value of this trade obviously in favor of Florida.

Don't care if this is ridiculous from either perspective but after watching how amazing Conner is, and still most likely to improve, that's the kind of deal I would expect back in return for Conner. Honestly maybe even a pick or a prospect to Edmonton as well.

It would still be just plain "No" from me. Zero chance we trade McDavid. Guys like him born once in 25 years or so.

Straight up, we are blessed by the noodly appendages that we have a player of his calibre. Him and Gretz? dam. The Edmonton Oilers are the chosen franchise... the chosen juans. The aura of divine intervention is here in the city of edmonton, im a non believer but... its obvious. The Oilers are not meant to fail, we are just given a generational talent every 30 years to make up for the heart ache we would have to go through in between. The Edmonton Oilers are the centre of the hockey multiverse where we suffer for a decade, then treat fans worldwide to generational talents, winning cups in bunches and paving the way for teams like the leefs to try and emulate how to win, and win when being at the bottom. It only seems to work for the Oil and penguins (to an extremely lesser extent) winning 3 1st overall picks in a row, but it wasnt enough, we simply had to have McDavid... it was destined. Nevermind getting Draisaitl @ #3 (the best player in the draft) so technically 5 1st overalls in 6 years. Our team will win the cup this year and you guys will like it.

McDavid is untradeable, unless he wants out and then his value will be damaged but he still would be untradeable. Even if you added 5 key players, still untradeable. Picks untradeable. Toss in the negatives of the Oilers GM in a Maple Leafs jersey rooting against the Oilers. Still not enough value.

I think you are overvaluing McDavid. I don't think anyone thinks he'll end up as Crosby2.

I think his value wouldn't be as high as Toews, although close.

You can ignore trade clauses because this is a simple thought experiment. Please do not include prospects or draft picks in the discussion of McDavid's value.

For example, if McDavid is valued at AAa- what player or players as a package is also rated as AAa-?
