yeah and the hurricanes made me cry in 2009. i don't mind stealing from them.

and 2002, and 2006 (game 2 especially)

I still can't believe how that Game 7 ended. It was the most shocked/crushed I have ever been as a sports fan.

Isn't that stolen from the Hurricanes fans? I feel like it is and that's a reason I'm against it.

I think they just had him show up during the goal song because he's a Carolina guy.

I feel like ours just kind of came out of left field when they would randomly play it during breaks in play a year or two ago. Now it's taking on a life of it's own. Plus Hallsy loves it, so it ain't going anywhere.

"making the playoffs" and "cup run" are two different things in my book.

are we good enough to make the playoffs? yes. are we good enough to beat tampa bay, boston, or washington in a seven-game series? very questionable.

also, we're a john carlson and the continued development of steve santini away from me not worrying about defense anymore.

More like...

Tampa Bay? Yes.

Boston? No.

Washington? Hell no.

Wood and opening a spot for Gibbons later . unless they want to carry 3 goalies for a day or two?
I would carry 3 G for the rest of the season for injury insurance if an upgrade at G can't be made before Monday at 3 pm. I wouldn't risk Kinkaid or Lack to waivers even if they are unlikely to be claimed. No 23 man roster limit after the TDL .

of all the narratives on this board, the one where we have to coddle hall to get him re-signed might be the silliest. he obviously likes it here, he sees where we’re heading long term, and he is on board. if he winds up walking after his contract is up, **** him. but I really doubt that will be the case.

I doubt also that will be the case.

Because wherever else he goes, he won't be "The Man" as he is right now. This is HIS team.

Gibbons back?

Edit: probably Wood being back

Good.

He annoyed the f*** out of me with his two floating games this weekend. Don't wanna see any more of him, even though we don't really have a better call up option at the moment.

I was surprised they called up Pietila, as it seemed we had enough bodies and Boyle seemed like he was gonna be back, but it didn't hurt after Wood got suspended.

Hynes always likes having an extra forward in,case someone gets hurt in warmups.

That is why Pietla was called up as Boyle was still questionable. Then Wood got suspended and there you go .

Pietla has done more with his callup anyway. Kid has been hustling .

I don't think Pietila is good, but he hasn't been floating out there like Lappin. Lappin literally looked content to collect an NHL paycheck.
I think we have won every game Lappin has played this season.
We also had a shot differential of almost -50 the last 4 games that he's played. Him being dressed for the 4 game winning streak is probably the most random occurrence of the entire season.

We did lose to Montreal in OT back in December when he played.

I still can't believe this clearing attempt 3 feet from the blue line.

I cant believe he is still in the lineup

Thing I was worried about most at the start of the year was LJ getting too many minutes because he’s a vet. He couldn’t get into the lineup at first and we were on fire. He’s been back in for awhile and we’ve been average at best. Guy brings nothing to the table aside from being a good 7th D option. If all the guys are healthy there’s no need for him to be playing.

I don’t think anyone disagrees with you. I’m not sure Shero disagrees with you, but Lovejoy is getting paid real money and they can stash Santini in the AHL and give him big minutes there, so Lovejoy can enjoy his golden NHL years playing on the third pair with Butcher.

The Capitals truly don’t worry me. Like are they better? Yeah, but are they unbeatable? No.
They're also prone to struggling with teams in the first round of the playoffs that they should handily beat, or even losing to them sometimes.

That goal looks even worse on Kinkaid from that angle in slow motion than it did live.

It's not reasonable to ask him to allow 0 goals though.

Lovejoy still blows.

I understand why Lovejoy is in over Santini. There's nothing wrong with giving Santini minutes in the AHL. I don't like that the coaches asked him to play over his head for 2-3 months, then sent him to the AHL after sitting for almost a month as a healthy scratch in the NHL. If they had used him in the role they used him in last year, I think he might still be up, but since we NEED to play Lovejoy, he probably still would have found his way back to Bingo anyway.

I don't understand why Lovejoy plays over Mueller though, and we have to scratch Mueller to play him or possibly even Butcher going forward. I remember @Aethon saying they would lean on him down the stretch, even though he hoped they wouldn't. I'm pretty sure even a couple people acted like he was crazy, but he was definitely on to something.

It's imperative that we buy Lovejoy out after this year, as they can't resist the temptation long enough to scratch him most of the time, like they did before the midway point of this season.

They seem to start fiending for him and they relapse and he eventually finds his way back in permanently. We can't have that next year, so time to heave him and let Andy Greene play that bottom pairing role, which is exactly where he belongs going forward.
