I disagree. Even though Michalek is not scoring, there were a number of excellent defensive plays throughout the season. He still isn't earning his paycheck, but it's not fair in saying Greening is better.

I don't see what Greening does positively, except for occasionally standing up for his team mates.

Michalek is actually remaking himself as a penalty killer and defensive specialist. He's a smart player, which is why Cameron seems to like him. Sure, he's an expensive fourth liner, but for now he is a reliable veteran and his salary helps us get to the floor.

Greening, on the other hand, is just a bad contract. I don't blame the Senators for his contract, as it seemed like a reasonable one at the time. Every team in the league has a few bad contracts. The smart teams, though, recognize their mistakes and cut their losses. That's what the Senators need to do with Greening. There is no sense holding on to him and hoping that he magically comes around, or that somehow another team will be interested. He won't, and they won't. Waive him, send him to Bingo, then buy him out this summer. Just rip off the bandaid already...

You realize that if this petition of yours flies and is voiced on Radio or Brennan picks it up, there is no chance in hell management caves in and waive Greening, right?

well said. Plus, if by magic he does start producing points in Bingo, that might drive up his value.

If Greening was nasty and had a chip on his shoulder, he'd be a beast of a player...

Can we put Neil's brain in Greening's body?

I don't even want him down in Bingo... Just give him away for anything. Hell, keep the whole salary!

I dunno. I kept hearing they gave Phillips a contract for the fans due to the Alfie situation. Maybe they do make some decisions based on fan reaction.

I would much rather prefer to set up some sort of Battle Royale/Hunger Games scenario.

He will be bought out in the off-season. We just have to deal with him until then. They aren't going to pay him millions to play in the minors this season.

Can you waive him, tell him to just go home cuz you're buying him out in the summer?

Why would you do that? He isn't a bad influence on anyone, I think. He just isn't worth the money he is making. You might as well get him to earn some of the money before he is gone. Who knows... he could find his game in the meantime.

We need to bring back the knife fights to choose who plays and who sits. I knows Wier got Boro pretty good in the leg last time but competition breeds success and keeps the guys hungry. A knife fight is exactly what Greening needs.

Oh I agree. I think he'd be useful in Binghamton. Just wondering if it could be done.
