The New York Rangers are proud to select forward Blake Geoffrion from the USA NTDP.

In the first round we drafted on the high potential of defenseman Derrick LaPoint. We felt the coaching staff at North Dakota and the players he will be playing with (Finley, Lee, Chorney) will help him develop into his 6-3 frame and become an absolute stud. In the second we went with a punishing winger from the NTDP who is very established. We feel that we couldnt pass him up. He's going to be a power forward with a scoring touch in the John Leclair mold.

Roundin out the two rounds for the Canucks are all centres with very high ceilings. James Sheppard is a quality two-way centreman who is capable of racking up huge points. The second centre drafted is an under-the-radar centreman who is very good with the puck and speed in David McIntyre. Rounding out the picks was the final centreman in Trevor Lewis. He played for the same team as Kyle Okposo, collecting more points than him, and is also an extremely capable centreman in all departments. Overall, the Canucks have had a very successful draft.
