Though I am very tempted to take Kessel personally, the pick will obviously be defenseman Erik Johnson. I love Johnson but I truly believe that if this comes to pass, 3 or 4 years from now I will regret not taking Kessel.

That was my pick, so yes, it has begun. Even though I think that St. Louis is far more likely now to be last in the standings anyways.

This was a tough one a really really Tough pick as personally i am tempted like Jaded-Fan was to go with a big imposing center i have to go with the player who possess bigger game breaking ability instead of my choice of Stall

So with that being Said

The St. Louis Blues are proud to select from University of Minnesota:

Phil "the thrill" Kessel

Now why would u say something like that? You think Kessel is going to be a bust? or are you laughing at me saying that he may have a higher game breaking ability?

Read my pick post xtra . . . I was not being sarcastic, I genuinely like Kessel better than Johnson. But I would not be brave enough to take him over Johnson if I had the first pick.

You should have traded down...well at least inquired about it.

I did inquire about it. but i figued that no one would do it because the forwards are closely bunched together and that after E.Johnson is gone that no one would want to move up because giving up another pick to take someone that is realitively the same wouldn't happen.

And people were getting antsy

Jaded Fan i guess my sarcasm meter is off a bit today. While it could be tough to pass on Johnson i think that if the Blues did end up first overall via the lottery then they just might pass on him or trade down becasue they have a good young defense as it is

as it stands now the Blues have the first pick overall. If somebody in the top 5 wins the lottery besides them, worst case scenerio for them is 2nd pick.

The tampa Bay Lightning have a trade to announce:

The Lightning in a bid to sign Brad Richards have moved Martin St.Louis to calgary for their first round pick (24th ov) the moving of the albotross contract has assured the lightning that they will have Brad Richards locked up for a long time.

Now the Tampa Bay lightning are looking to move up in the first round and are willing to package both first round picks to do so

A suggestion: Bold your pick and make it in size 2 font so that they stand out as "pick posts" rather then discussion posts.

Same should go for trade announcments. :)

Okay, now that Kyle Chipchura has not shown up and I have waited a day, I'll make the pick for him and move on.
