Not a concern, the lease at Spectrum was extended to 2045. And it would not make any sense at all to move out of this growing market at this point. Imagine a consistent playoff contending Hornets team, the city would go crazy for them, hard to get excited when every year you know the absolute ceiling is just over .500 and a first round loss like it has been the last few decades.

This has been forgotten but the NBA came back a year (in announcement that an expansion team would be granted) after the old Hornets left. Different league office, but still.

I think the market is stable, no one wants to watch lousy sports teams, that's not the fans fault.

As long as owners are willing to hold state and local governments hostage, only a small select few teams are truly safe. I'm talking Yankees, Cowboys, etc.

Who knows what the Hornets do as usual even with MJ out, but I'd actually argue Scoot is the more athletic player. But he can also play basketball. Miller is less athletic/has less measureables but is a more experienced player. Scoot has more upside while Miller is safer and probably has the higher floor.

It's not just that MJ did nothing, he actively failed at everything he tried to do with the Hornets, most of the time actively making the team worse.

And he saw his investment balloon by 11x over 13 years. f***ing insane. And as an aside the main reason why the suggestion that Dundon is going to sell the Canes anytime soon because the short term just isn't doing what he wants is crazy. You don't buy a team to worry about annual P&L, you do it for the long term ROI.

I do agree the Hornets have zero business being valued that high but the league got a huge jump in revenue when they re-upped with ESPN/ABC in 2015. That's also when the salary cap jumped by some $20 million and players like Nic Batum and Timofey Mozgov were getting insane contracts.
