The team has 2 top 4 dmen and 1 former top 4 dmen who is coming back from being out 2 seasons. Ofc the coverage is shit.

Team was top 5 in most possession metrics last year. 3rd in xGF%.
This season even before the offloading they haven't been in the top 15 in any of them.

but at least the players are having fun

Team also didn't make the playoffs and the games were painfully boring to watch so who cares how good the metrics were.

I don’t see how anyone can think this team is going to be better next year. Kadri and Backlund a year older. Sharon and Coleman likely don’t do better. Anaheim, Montreal and Ottawa should be way better.

The only team that truly looks worse is Chicago imo.

3 year tank and we should be set up nicely for the future.

Crazy to think there has been an argument that adding a Chandler Stephenson will make the difference next year and put us in a better position.

Embrace the suck, people.

I've seen it mentioned by people connected to the Flames, not the organization itself, but that the plan is to be competitive by '27 when the new arena opens. Not sure exactly what means, but to me this season was 100% re-build. They sold all the UFA's, only extended bottom tier guys, started more young guys, etc.

And tie game.

If wolf is a couple inches taller that save is easier.

Damn, tough. Couldn’t clear the crease (nvm I think Weegar put that in)

Defs tank next year but after that adding a FA and going for the playoffs should be on the table

That's a major? Morrissey got up before Pospisil did ffs.

League is so broken, rules don't apply until they want them to. Backlund does that and it's 2 minutes, McDavid does that it isn't even a penalty.

That's a 2 minute elbowing penalty.

Hmm. I really don't see that as a deliberate elbow. He's trying to push into the hit and the elbow extended upwards, but really didn't have any effect. He did get a bit excited and raised up off his feet upon contact but I see zero maliciousness here. Just a strong hit gone awry.

How do they even review that if it was called 2 minutes to begin with?

this f***ing league lol
It’s the right call, Like objectively, that should be a misconduct.

Fans will never be pleased with anything. No wonder no one wants to ref anymore, fans knows more but all interpret things as they want.

A 5 minute major and game misconduct from a hit where the guy gets up IMMEDIATLY is not objectively the right call.

The official watching the play didn't call a major.

Hes elbow was tucked in and didnt leave hes feet until after the contact, whats he supposed to do there? Jusy because Morrisseys head is waist level doesnt mean he cant be hit. Its a minor at best

Yes, that’s exactly what it means actually. That would be called a vulnerable position. Especially when you leave your feet.

He didnt leave hes feet. So players can just skate arojnd with head at shoulder elbow lv and they cant be hit? 48.1 says avoidable head contact is illegal, its literally unavoidable with Morrisseys skating like that, hes allowed to be hit there.

Hell of a tip and subsequent goal from Vilardi.

Kings got HOSED trading for Dubois. More so hosed because Dubois is so useless, they didn't actually give that much up other than Vilardi.

Vilardi is a beast.

Can't believe just as he got good LA traded him. And it wasn't even hindsight that the trade wasn't great either.
