If we finally have a legit top line, i could see us going on a run. the 9 line has as much talent as any line in the NHL. i hope those 3 dig deep tonight. i know they have it in them to go in and dominate like they have been at home.

preds in 6.

who are you and what have you done to noneck?

Seriously, who knows anymore. If Saros has a good night I can see us stealing this. Lord knows we have the mental fortitude to pull through.

Well we weren't supposed to have any chance in this series, yet we were 8 mins away from forcing a Game Seven.

No shame in that loss, the boys played their tails off. Better days ahead.

Sorry but there is plenty of shame in CHOKING a 3rd period lead, in the final minutes... two games in a row.... IN THE PLAYOFFS

The supposed leadership core of this team is peanut butter soft. And the true leader of the team never saw the ice during the series.

I f***ing hate these guys.

Saros alternatively played amazingly well and botched routine saves.

Our high paid forwards barely played.

Ellis was not good in this series.

Josi played well. Ekholm played well.

Jarnkrok 1 assist in 6 games (LOL).... Every year.

Haula and Granlund with a good series.

I'm not a fan of how this team is coached, but I've said that from the beginning.

I thoroughly enjoyed the OT wins.

I have no idea what this team will do now as Hynes clearly wants to jettison both RyJo and Duchene. I don't think he cares about Forsberg resigning. Rinne will not be back either.

Luckily Hynes has no say in personnel decisions. I mean he may have wants but if Poile caters to him he needs to be fired.

Some of Hynes player decisions is dumbfounding sometimes.

Well, you guys took it to a lot more games than I was expecting and I'm pretty sure you just lost to one of the top 3 teams in the NHL. Never come to these boards, so I wouldn't be surprised if what I'm going to say has been rehashed a thousand times, but I think you guys really need a coach that'll get more production out of your forwards.

Frankly we need a pretty good retool, just not sure we can get it done nor that Poile will do it. Also not real confident he will make the right decisions either.

Sounds like what you hear out of many fanbases these days. Sadly, it's not that easy to pull off with a flat cap. Once the cap starts going up again teams will have more flexibility to make it happen. I'm sure Seattle will end up taking on a few significant contracts, freeing up significant cap space for a few teams in need of a retool, but the other teams will be held out left to dry for a while on that front.

Agreed. When it comes down to small details its the little things that show big in the playoffs.. Hynes just outmatched

It wasn't that they barely played. It was that the opposition put up better numbers for comparable ES and PP time. ES TOI .. Aho, Teravainen, Forsberg, Sevechnikov, Granlund 99:31 down to 97:53 ES TOI. Staal played a minute more ES than either Kunin or Johansen over the six games ... down to Duchene's 90:05 ES TOI (10th among forwards in the series). Granlund and Forsberg had more PP TOI than any Cane forward ... 4 of the top 6 PP TOI forwards were Predators. NONE of them scored 5on4. Even after the PP unit changes starting in game 3, Johansen played more on the PP than Staal during the series. What did Johansen and Forsberg do with their over 7 minutes of PP time each during Game 2? What did Duchene get done with his over 5 minutes of PP time that game? There is room for a great philosophical debate if Johansen's game 3, 3rd period goal had anything to do with being able to roll the Nines against Necas and Niedereider rather than SAT or Staal.

As for the claim that he "clearly wants to jettison" 92 and 95 ... that sounds more like your anti-Hynes bias rather than the situations and times they played.

End of the day, Hurricanes got big contributions from their top players (Aho, Stall, Necas). We managed to keep Trocheck and Svechnikov in check atleast.

2 goals away from being swept and 2 goals away from winning. 4OT games, 1 game that was a 1 G game until the last minute of play, and 1 game tied till the 2nd period. This was a close series.

Johansen was the goal leader for Nashville with 3 G....
Granlund, Forsberg, Trenin, Kunin, and Cousins had 2 G each
Ellis, Haula, Duchene had 1 G each

Our top players just didn't hit that extra gear.

Ellis wasn't great defensively but is tied for the lead in points with Granlund with 5.
Did Jarnkrok play? Don't recall seeing him. He's got 3G 12A in 63 playoff games... his production just dies in the playoffs.

I mean we knew Jarnkrok wasn't going to do anything, we knew that going in.

I have hated on his playoff game for years, and his overall weakness despite putting up decent points for his role.

I let myself think this year might be different because he did seem to be more filled out and a little stronger this year. I don't think he was physically embarrassed like usual in this playoff, but he was still ineffective.

It's a shame really that we even have to rely on him to score at all, I think Jarnkrok could make an even better career as a defensive PK specialist who has the ability to chip in some points.

I’m actually disappointed with Josi. I honestly don’t remember anything he did. If we’re going to pick out players who may not have performed well then shouldn’t we talk about our highest paid player and captain?

I’m not saying he played badly but if he did nothing memorable then isn’t that underperforming relatively speaking?

Some of his problem is undoubtedly the shift in responsibilities, playing more defensively and adding to the offense rather than being the offense. Unfortunately, he was underwhelming once play was established in the offensive zone, in all facets of the power play, and wasn't particularly good in his own zone either with a team leading -5.
