One more draft before the NHL season begins!
This is the signup/discussion thread for the second edition of the categories draft which I am planning to begin on September 4th. I hope we can get this filled to 32 teams, but the cutoff to join will be September 3rd. We will begin with however many GM's have joined at this point.
I am open to suggestions for rules/ideas for this draft between now and September 3rd. Please view the google document below which has the categories listed. I am also looking for help to run this draft, as I will be busier.
RULES (firm)
- The goal is to build the best possible team for the 2023-2024 season
- Salary Cap will be determined once we know how many GM's are involved
- You must select one player from each of the 20 categories
- There is no trading in this draft
- McDavid not available
- Time limit for draft picks is 2 hours per pick between Rounds 1-9, and 1 hour per pick from Rounds 10-20.
- If you select a player from a category you have already chosen, we move to the next selection regardless of your clock (same applies for skipped picks)
RULES (updated)
- Salary cap will be $90,000,000
- Rounds 3 and 4 will both be reversed (last pick of 1st round has first pick of 3rd and 4th round).. Round 5 will go back to regular order
- Each category will be trimmed down to 22 players
- Time limit per pick will be 3 hours from Rounds 1-9, 2 hours from Round 10-15, and 1 hour from Rounds 16-20
- Clock begins at 9:00am ET and ends at 12:00am ET
- We will do a draft to select draft position
- Voting: top 8 teams in both divisions move to playoffs meaning 5/6 teams do not make it. The teams will be ranked in order based on average votes and 1vs.8 matchup style
- Cap hits listed are as of August 18th
