I hope he gets taken so we have another contract space. I don't really care about giving the Marlies a better team, I'd rather have the freedom to sign someone if needed or pick up an undrafted (cough godla/sharov *yes I know they are in KHL)

These are my thoughts exactly. I don't get it when fans say so and so will help the Marlies. The only players that will help the Marlies are players that potentially can make the Leafs. Any other players should be let go or sent to the ECHL for possible call up to the Marlies if there is an injury on that team..Nuff said..

The other issue in play is player contracts.

You are only allowed 50 max between our NHL, AHL and ECHL team.

If you have a bunch of players using these spots up it limits what you can do.. ie making trades etc.

If a player doesn't have a future with your team it is sometimes better if they are claimed and you lose the contract. Let some other team pay $850k salary.
