Hm something had to be known though if future considerations was based on how many games he’d play as on poster mentioned.
Until that poster provides sources, I’ll treat it with a grain of salt. Also, why not make a pick based on games played part of the trade to begin with if that was the case?

OK, so under the nhl rules this trade is legal. Its a new version of the tampa thing with Kucherov
So grab a high price ( last year of contract) make sure he cant play for at least 6 month maybe 8 months so the INS pays him and you get cap space and you still dont have to play him in the playoffs.
SO why not take this 1 step forward. sign 3-4 top players, accidentally break their legs so the INS pay them and then suddenly bring them back as the playoffs start. Would this STILL BE LEGAL under the current rules. I know sounds crazy, BUT that is NOT MY QUESTION, would it be LEGAL.

Circumvention is still against the rules.

Yep. People are over-thinking things. The Metro, and the East in general is going to be a battle to get into the playoffs for many teams. I'm sure Carolina, who lost Trocheck, Nino, and DeAngelo weren't going into the season thinking: "Man, if only we could get a player that missed over half of last season and sit him on the shelf for all of this season so we can bring him back for the playoffs."

That’s funny as it’s habs fans who can’t seem to let it go. But you guys do you. I get that there’s not much to be excited about as a habs fan right now so that’s probably why y’all spend so much time thinking about the canes and living in the past.
I honestly dont think any Habs fan give a shit about the Canes. We actually want you to do well, especially vs the Panthers.

Don't get me wrong, I hope your team never sniffs another Cup, especially with that $20 to KK, but to think our world revolves around you is idiotic.

Yet here we are with Habs fans showing up in a thread that doesn't involve them, just to bring up Kotkaniemi.

Not seeing Leafs or Bruins or Rangers or Caps or Pens or Kings or Blues or Avs or Canucks or Flames or Jets or Kraken or Lightning or Stars or Panthers or Devils or Wings or Islanders or Wild or Blackhawks fans feeling the need to be here at the moment.

Nobody said your world revolves around us. Habs fans definitely spend too much time thinking about the canes, though, and that can’t be doubted if you spend any decent amount of time on hf.

May as well bump this one too.

Independent of Pacioretty's injuries, Vegas ended up on the right side of this trade. A high priced winger being pushed out was a natural consequence of the reallocation of cap to center with Eichel. The Knights effectively chose to retain Smith and trade Pacioretty for nothing in lieu of keeping Pacioretty and letting Smith go. It's a good reminder to not evaluate trades in isolation.
