It's weird. He is an RFA after this year with no arbitration rights and no control, so the Canes could have kept him for more AHL depth if they wanted.Disappointing his development took such a nosedive, but I largely blame the failure of the AHL situation. For all the darts, we've now turned a 2nd & 4th into 2 6th round picks
Well, if that is who he wanted, this trade would not be the first time he could say that.Somewhere Kev is doing a "gang, I told you so" yat the screen. He wanted Nick Robertson with this pick back during that draft.
Could be a player-initiated request or an outcome in a discussion of the future. Hard to blame a Canes prospect for wanting a clearer AHL situation. If the Checkers boys were frustrated in waiting for the never-coming call up, I don't want to think what these guys loaned to some other team's AHL team think about it.It's weird. Instead, they would probably need to sign a veteran AHL player assuming they ice a full AHL affiliate next year. I think that says what they think of Rees after this season.
Probably, but now it's a closed book as far as Carolina goes. It's not like Nick Robertson has yet amounted to anything much yet, but he is playing NHL games now. Rees now has zero chance of doing that in Carolina, even if the chances were slim before.Well, if that is who he wanted, this trade would not be the first time he could say that.
I was kind of hoping that he blooms elsewhere, and then we some day sign him succcessfully because of having accommodated for his trade wish back in 2024.Rees now has zero chance of doing that in Carolina, even if the chances were slim before.
No chance he’s not been committed yet.Somewhere Kev is doing a "gang, I told you so" yat the screen. He wanted Nick Robertson with this pick back during that draft.
Likely a likely 3rd round capable Russian that folks are scared to draftWonder what draft guru “darling” will fall to the Canes with this pick.
Is a shame about Rees. Way back, he was my favorite pick from the 2019 draft.
The trade deadline is a deadline for playoff roster eligibility. You can still sign or trade players after the deadline, they just can't be on your roster for the playoffs. Which is not a concern for Ottawa.Trade deadline was last week. How is this possible?

Also, today was the AHL trade deadline. Always some minor league deals leading up to their playoffs.Trade deadline was last week. How is this possible?
