I've gotta say..... Carolina is a real up and coming franchise. They play hard and have some nice young talent.

That teams fanbase hasn't had a lot to be excited about lately - but they're close to being a real threat. Good team down there.

No one is saying he's a bad coach - we're just saying the way he handles young players isn't very good.

He has his things he does very well... he has downsides as well. Not everyone can be Bellicheck, Phil Jackson, etc.

Maybe it's the young players he has on the roster? He's not making development decisions in a vacuum. He has assistants and Player Development staff, a GM staff and a President of Hockey Ops to answer to and help make these decisions. Just sayin. Back to enjoying a 2pt night.

It's not just here - It's throughout his coaching career. It was a concern coming to Washington as in Nashville he had this reputation.

We are a team that drafts first rd guys that have all pretty much turned out very well up until a couple years ago (when Trotz got here). Our scouting department is still basically the same as it was 5 years ago. However, since Trotz got here all our first rd guys that get a chance to prove themselves haven't under Trotz. If you look at our first rd guys before Trotz they've all been really good basically except 1 or 2 for like a decade...

Reading through this thread you'd think the Caps were a bottom 5 team.

6th win in a row
5th in points in the league with games at hand

Seriously people, pace yourself. None of this matters. The Caps will be a top 4 seed in the East and their fate will be decided in April and May. Barry Trotz is a very good head coach and the Caps have scoring depth, a good D and a very good goalie. They are a contender.

The salt on the Canes board is real. They went from nice fans wishing the Caps luck to outright trashing us

I mean... if they looked at our GDT of course we are going to be annoyed/salty. I'm sure there board would even admit the calls seemed in the Canes favor this year.

Yet, we still won. I'd be mad too if I was the Canes and washed away the extra point. When you seem to have advantages and can't capitalize - people are going to be upset - and so we are the ones that they're going to get upset with b/c we were mad, whined, etc - but deservedly so tonight.

Regardless, those fans should be happy. Canes don't look like a worst 5 team any more. They look like they have some hard working players and some talent. Future looks good for them. They're close to being a legit playoff team. Just a couple development players away or free agent moves.

No systemic or coaching things to pile on about? :handclap:
