considering one of those 3 years, Vatanen only played half the year in the NHL, that is a bit misleading... Vatanen even strenght p/60 is .96, Krug is .98, not much difference there.

I don't know for sure but Krug has always said he wants lower term to prove he deserves more. It worked out well previously but he always wants to prove he can do more. Not that this current contract is anywhere close to a "prove it" deal but he wants to prove he is worth more with every contract he has signed.

Vatanen is a very good player. Slick and professional. Krug is all of that as well as a leader. He had a shoulder injury (operation in April) which limited his goal scoring this season, but a healthy Krug is good for 12-15 goals if not more...especially with increased 5 on 5 and PP time.

I think Krug is worth every penny of this deal.

Why would re signing one of our d men affect Shattenkirk? We just bought out Seidenberg so plenty of cap space.

He was tied with Doughty, Yandle, Klein, and Chara for the 25th most even strength points in the league and has excellent advanced stats so... you're wrong.

He's not, though. Hes a very capable 2nd pairing offensive d man who is complemented very well by a defensive d man. I think he'll improve too.

Just because hes great on the PP doesn't mean hes just a PP specialist.

Ghost must be a PP specialist too, then, since he gets an even higher percentage of his points with the man advantage than Krug does.

A) Ghost was a rookie

B) Ghost played a lot of the year with Manning and MacDonald

C) If Flyers can improve bottom 6, they can give G/Coots more ozone starts with Ghost on the ice = more ES production

I like Krug. I was actually hoping Ghost would be the Flyers Krug when I first say him play in NCAA.

I now think Ghost will be better but I still like Krug.

It's not accurate to call him just a PP guy when there are dmen out there like Yandle and Shattenkirk who score more than half of their points on the PP.

Even strength is what I said. Read before posting maybe. The whole post was in response to that poster calling Krug a PP specialist. Not trying to get into a Krug vs Vatanen pissing match, they are very similar.

Same 5 on 5 points per 60 as Letang over the past three years. And more actual points, although Letang was obviously out with an injury, so that doesn't matter.
