What's the latest on Krug after surgery? Is he going to be ready for camp? I don't mind the signing. I like Krug. :handclap:

No NMC/NTC either so I'm pleased. Not like we wouldn't protect him next year anyways.

EDIT: NTC in the final 2 years of the deal when he'll be 28/29 so I'm not concerned.

A NTC (or NMC) is not allowed while a player still is in his RFA years.

He got one as soon as it was allowed.

But, on the other hand, he still could be traded to 22 of the 30 other teams (I did not forget to add Las Vegas...).

A little pricey for a PP guy

The Bruins are really great after this signing. I think they'll win the Stanley Cup next year! :handclap:

Actually Krug was named captain after his 2nd year in college, not a common thing and a feather in his cap for sure and the Bruins were thinking of drafting him. Like you said in the 7th round, you are correct about that.

took me a few secionds to realize that was sundin in your avatar what a good player but man he looks like a skinhead in a leaf jersey.

Krug....TOP 3 in the NHL 5 on 5, goals for and against, he took a lesser deal the first time it evens up now, this is not a clarkson deal:sarcasm:

Was that this past season? If so that doesn't warrant the contract. Over a few more years for example then yes. You know what you get from him on a consistent basis and the deal is deserved.

Taylor hall for example is third overall since 2012 in scoring at 5 on 5 play which is insane considering he played on edm. But you know what you get from him and his 6 mill is a steal as he's one of the top lw in the game.

He scored 4 goals last year on 244 shots.... That was 4th in the NHL among D in SOG. With the cannon he has, that was an anomaly IMO. He's a player that should be sitting between 15 and 20.

He plays 21-22 minutes a night. 2nd pair. 1st PP. I had him pegged at 5 years $5M. Not going to complain about this.

For the life of me I really can't get a read on what's going through Boston's thought process these days.
Hamilton and Lucic out of the door for $$$ and then Krug gets THIS much? Holy cow.

Hamilton did not go out the door because of money. He went out the door because he didn't want to stay in the house anymore.

One of the best things about Krug is still when he was a distant second college Free Agent behind Justin Schultz chosing Boston back when they had an incredibly deep d-core instead of the guarantee of Edmonton like Schultz did. Speaks a tonne about his character and drive.

He's earned the trust of Claude Julien of all coaches so don't think he's just a specialist. Undersized - yep. But everything else - he's golden and definitely a player you want on your team.

Your right they should have not signed him and waited a few more years. Wait they would lose him because his contract was up.
His numbers have gone up every year and this year on a team that was a truly bad defence. Old guys Chara, Seids, Liles, bread and butter guys McQuaid and Kevan Miller and rookies Colin Miller and Morrow and Krug who lead the team in points on dee.

The quote above should help you. For clarity, he'd be Edmonton's top defenseman, Larsson included. How much would you pay for a guy who becomes the best defender on your team instantly for 5.25 million?

Oh right, Taylor Hall.

Just pair him with someone big and boom let him do all the puck possession. Honestly it's pretty easy to understand.

Takes shots
Has a good shot
Puck possession beast

Not a big Krug fan but gotta like this deal

The guy is really good. Getting him at that price is completely fair. He is just a whiz with the puck, very annoying to play against I imagine.

Wow ,knew Krug was underated. But some of these posts.....PP specialist:shakehead Krug is a very solid pmd that plays in most all situations for Boston, even as a fan of a rival team i can see this .He is worth this contract easily
