Fathers & Sons was a real chore, not helped by possibly the worst translation I have ever come across.

Mirage 38.

Not a bad book, but could have been so much better. Europe was a fascinating place between the two wars. I loved the idea of the book, but too many cheap tricks to create suspense and the dialogue just isn't good enough for it to be a great book.

I've been putting this off for a while now because I suspect it will be really bleak.

That's the ****ing worse. I commute to work and if I forget my book on the table I get pissy and just scroll stupid crap on my phone.

Normally I walk to and from work and always have a book with me to read on the way home. Just badly organised today. I deliberately don't have a smart phone so I don't waste time on it I could be reading; I've no idea how I'd have coped without calling in to the library.

It's not bad if you're looking for an entertaining book. The writing style is different from what I'm used to. But he's a first time writer, so it's to be expected.

As usual with Eco, it's a cleverly written novel, about fake news and falling for conspiracy theories. Hits the nail on the head.
