Schenn intercepts a Flames' pass, flies out ahead on a clean breakaway and pots the goal by Markström!!! Blues back within 1 !!! :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:
The Blues' 11th shorthanded goal this season, leading The NHL!!!

They killed of the penalty, too!

It’s 3-2 after 2 and if this game is ended like 6-5, it’d be the most believable result of anyone who watched this game

The craziness that this offseason is going to be when we see Krug Bought out.
why would we buy him out? seems better to pay him while we stink anyway and not muck up cap when we might be good again. if we retain have to think we could find a taker (or take back somebody else's bad $ so long as not longer term). we can always send him to springfield if we are just done with him. buyout this summer just seems like creating problems we don't need, no matter how bad he plays.

Opens cap room for Hanafin via Free Agency.

Exactly THIS! The Blues will need that precious cap room to compete with the best NHL teams after their new crop of prospects and current good young players mature into their primes.

Not a great game for Krug, and keeping him overall if he can get back to his best may be better than trading him at his worst. But Perunovich makes him really redundant and why keep the more expensive player?

The NTC makes it harder for sure, but that's true of anyone worth trading on the back end.

Really don't believe a buyout where he eats 3+ mil in cap is an option, best case is we find a trade fit he's comfortable with if keeping him isn't an option anymore. Which, totally on board if that's the case

I still think we can find a partner to trade Krug, especially with the cap going up this summer, there's bound to be a few teams that might want him thinking he's a better fit for their system, or they have a need for a guy like him. Whether or not any fit his preferred destinations remains to be seen.

I would only buy him out only after exhausting all options and it was a true last resort where eating the buy out was still better than having him around at all.

for one year...the next 5 years sees the blues eating $2.3-2.8m of cap space until 2030. army should get roasted hard for doing this to bring in another expensive #3.

krug's going to be here through next season, either a team will find the dwindling term more palatable or in 2025 he only has a 15 team no trade so he goes then.

One thing I’m on board with Bannister with, Matt Kessel has been a solid, if not unnoticeable, D-man. Love that from a young guy. Feels like a solid player outside of the one giveaway early in the game Binner saved.
