It turned into a blowout. Every coach in the league is going to give their top players reduced minutes in a game like this.

Lets be honest, it's not like McDavid's line bothered to show up tonight in the defensive end. They were on their for what... 4 goals against? Or was it 5?
Panarin made mincemeat out of all of our D, ugly puck watching coverage.

Other than the Goal that went directly off of RNH not sure what the forwards could have done to stop the tire fire know as the Oilers D Corps
The Blue Jackets spent the entire game passing the puck around in the Oilers zone at will. The forward core tonight, first line at the forefront, was just as negligent as the D core.

Genuinely some of the laziest and disinterested defending I've seen from the Oilers as a whole team all year.

Quintessential Oilers' game of 2017-18:
- McDavid is great
- Defense/goaltending awful (2 AHL goalies play)
- 2nd and 3rd lines can't score
- At the first sign of the opposition's push-back, the entire Oilers' team collapses and turns into pylons
- Lucic and Sekera completely useless

I think this might be the end for Todd.

Don't even care that they lost, but this game and the last one serve as a reminder.

No, this isn't a playoff team next year without some major improvements.

Even Connor McDavid can't save this team.

Oh and hey, I see a winger had a hat trick tonight. Imagine having skilled wingers!

The forwards kept them to the outside? Did you watch the game? The Blue Jackets were finding guys in the middle of the ice at will.

To many crap contracts no cap space yeah their screwed

A decent manager can work around that and do what Toronto did. Sekera's NMC is over after next year, so is Russell's, Lucic can be dumped on Seattle if you retain about a million and include a pick.

It can be done if a GM wants it to be done. The cap is steadily rising year after year too.

Defense is a team concept. Out D may be outmatched but the forwards did little to help. Where’s the guy rotating in to cover?

That's fine. If you can move him before then, you do that too. You can't just sit there and cry because you have one bad contract on the books especially with a cap north of $90 million at some point.

Get a real GM in here and this will turn in a hurry. Toronto did it.
