Because they were likely interviewing other candidates and then spending time discussing stuff and narrowing down choices.

I'm sure AV has a say in who would be on his coaching staff.

The Rangers need to replace Beukeboom for the AHL team. They had have three former NHL D in the AHL as assistant coaches working with the D. Ulf Samuelsson. JJ Daigneault. Beukeboom. All of them have done good work with the Rangers young D starting with Girardi and Staal.

JJ Daigneault did a terrific job and was sought after, after his stint in HFD.

MTL hired him, did some pretty good work with their defense. Especially with some guy named Pernell Karl.

Doubt it. I don't think coaches project how they used to play onto players, and if they weren't trying to get players to play to their strengths, they'd be bad coaches
