Getting Lou back for Matthias and Markie was huge for us, though like I mentioned in another thread, I think we'll miss Markstrom as he improves longterm.

2015: 2nd + 3rd round picks for Jaromir Jagr
2015: Jacob Markstrom and Shawn Matthias for Roberto Luongo and Steven Anthony
2011: 7th round pick for Tomas Kopecky ... Say what you will about Kopy, but a 7th round pick for a guy that would go on to lead FLA in goals during the lockout-shortened season is a nice deal.
2011:Rostislav Olesz for Brian Campbell
2007: 2007 2nd round pick (#58-Nick Spaling), 2007 or 2008 conditional 2nd round pick (2008 #40-Aaron Ness) & 2008 1st round pick (#9-Josh Bailey) for Tomas Vokoun
2002: Filip Novak, Igor Ulanov, 2002 1st round pick (#10-Eric Nystrom), 2002 2nd round pick (#40-Rob Globke) & 2003 4th round pick (#116-Guillaume Desbiens) for Pavel Bure & 2002 2nd round pick (#33-Lee Falardeau)
2000: Oleg Kvasha & Mark Parrish for Olli Jokinen & Roberto Luongo

Worst
2011: Michael Frolik & Alexander Salak for Hugh Jessiman, David Pacan & Jack Skille
2008: Olli Jokinen for Keith Ballard, Nick Boynton & a 2nd round pick (#49-Jared Staal)
2006: Lukas Krajicek, Roberto Luongo & a 2006 6th round pick (#163-Sergei Shirokov) for Bryan Allen, Alex Auld, Todd Bertuzzi & a 2007 conditional 6th round pick (not exercised)
2002: 2002 1st round pick (#1-Rick Nash) and Panthers option to swap 2003 1st round picks (not exercised) for 2002 1st round pick (#3-Jay Bouwmeester) ... The worst part about this one is that FLA also sent a 3rd and a 4th to Atlanta so they wouldn't take JayBo w/ the 2nd overall pick ... They literally got nothing else for those two picks.

Wasnt 7th for Kopecky just to get his UFA rights?

Chris Wells for Stu Barnes is the trade that began the demise of the 96 team. Such a dumb move. Especially considering Barnes played in the League until like 2008

that's it. set the franchise back big time. also can't say enough about keenan killing this franchise. also keenan giving the bolts boyle for i believe a 6th round pick, not to mention letting straka go. many more to come. thankfully it appears those days are behind us. but oh yes david bolland sucks!!!!!!

The 2002 trade of Pavel Bure wasn't so much good as negligible. We survived that one, because trading away a player like that could really bite you in the ass. Bure played very few games for the Rangers and basically no one one that trade, thus we didn't lose it.

I would nominate besides all these, the trade that got us Pavel Bure as a good one, because even in his short time here regardless of the ending he had, he had a positive impact on hockey in South Florida, made some new fans, and did help lead us back to the playoffs (though we were swept by the eventual champs).

And let this be a lesson to all teams: If you trade Roberto Luongo, you're gonna have a bad time.

We traded 2 2nds AND a first for A goalie... That'd be a good trade for Lundqvist, but that's a crazy bad trade for Vokoun. We got Luongo for Markstrom, a 2nd rounder.

I'll defend this one to the death, ha. Vokoun had SV% over .920 in 3 of his 4 years in SoFla and it's not his fault that the team never built up around him. It's also important to remember that goaltenders only recently started growing on trees.

Edit: Then again, Erik Karlsson would have still been on the board for FLA had they kept they pick....

You forgot about this blunder..

Back in '97, Bryan Murray didn't know it at the time, but he traded the Panthers' 1998 1st round pick to SJ for Viktor Kozlov. Florida's management thought Kozlov would be a legit star player for a long time. They gambled and they were dead wrong costing them a shot at drafting Vincent Lecavalier or David Legwand.

1997: 1998 1st round pick (#1 -Vincent Levavalier) & Dave Lowry for Viktor Kozlov & 1998 conditional 5th round pick (#117-Jaroslav Spacek) San Jose was selected in the 1998 drawing, but Tampa Bay held the right to swap first round picks with the Sharks and exercised that right to go to first.

Here's the article by Michael Russo

http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/19...or-kozlov-vincent-lecavalier-florida-panthers

"When we made the deal, we thought we would be a playoff team, picking 10th or 11th at worst,'' he said. ``But I've seen Lacavalier and Legwand play, and I feel we have something special in Kozlov. I've watched Viktor play [at the World Championships), and he is the leading scorer of the entire tournament. He's been a star, the best forward and most important forward of all the NHL players here. I think we saw the emerging of a real important player this year."

How is the trade to GET Bure not on here? I don't care who we traded away, he was absolutely electric to watch. Did he coast? yes. Did he slack on defense like nobody I've ever seen? Yep. But I've also never seen anyone score literally at will like he did. Maurice Richard trophy winner x 2 while with us. I'm happy he wore our uniform and I'm glad I got to see him play.

1999: Pavel Bure, Bret Hedican, Brad Ference, and Vancouver's third-round choice in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft (Robert Fried) for Ed Jovanovski, Dave Gagner, Mike Brown, Kevin Weekes

It was a move to try and hide the fact that we had just deal Luongo, who was an ELITE goalie at the time, for nothing...

Would you have traded the same 1st and 2 2nds with Krajicek for Bertuzzi, Allen and Auld? I wouldn't have.

Also, in regards the pick.. I remember having a good chat with Scott Luce the following year and asking who he would've taken then and he mentioned Tyler Myers.

They traded a 1st to patch a hole and justified it. They did the same thing in 97. See my last post. They could've drafted Karlsson if they were high on him. But, if Florida drafted Vinny L. it would've changed the entire course of history. TB would've most likely never won that cup and we could've seen a 1st line starting Pavel Bure centered by Vincent Lecavalier. Going with Kozlov was a huge gamble and it set us backwards for sure.
