RIP Battlefield.

That'd be like saying RIP Madden or RIP Chel

People still buy this Battlefield rehashed shit like they buy Madden, FIFA and Chel every year. If you think Battlefield is dead you're seriously mistaken. They just bastardized it like their sports games, and people will suck it up.

Honestly, if it comes out as a whole product, mostly bug free and does what it's supposed to do, even if it's changed up, I may look at it. But of course, it's a wait and see. As in, wait till after day 1 and read reviews and such.

But man... just f***ing remaster BF4 and give us that. That would be amazing.

What were the 2042 sales? I dont know if I’d compare them to Madden and Chel. Those games have no competition, whereas Battlefield has quite a bit in the FPS space.

What a shitshow. Please stop preordering games.
I guarantee that majority of them are 15 year old teens with their parents who have no effin' idea about how the world works. They see the hype trailer and go preorder them not knowing they're allowing game studios to ship bugged games. I also have no clue how a game studio can ship it out knowing how many problems it has and still consider it good.

100% not what I expected it to be after all the hype. Its still a fun game though, playing 1942 (kind of) is a wild ride from my early teenage years.

Played this for the first time today on PS5 with rock bottom expectations.

Started out, didn't really know what I was doing. Watched a few youtube videos and figured out there aren't really "classes" anymore. Ok, whatever. Tried to play conquest since that's always been my go to in the Battlefield series and wow, the maps are awful. Way too big with tons of dead space in between all the capture points and then not much cover at the cap points themselves. Seems like they just wanted to make gigantic maps so they could talk about how big the maps are without actually making them functional for conquest.

Quit out of conquest and dropped in to breakthrough. Decided to stop switching between specialists and that I was going to commit to Falck and go all out medic and just run around reviving and healing. Play this planet Hoth type map as the attacking team and my team was actually really good. I'm sprinting around Hoth with dozens of other people shooting everyone up with healing injections from half a football field away. Finally got a barrel for my gun that significantly calmed the recoil. I'm actually thinking "wow, maybe this game isn't so bad. I can't wait to go tell the Geek Emporium how it's not that bad." And then... crash.

I cannot get over how bad the maps are in this game.

Every conquest map is either:
A: Running across a giant open field with no cover for 200 yards waiting for a helicopter to blow you up or;
B: Everyone in the game apparently comes to a gentleman's agreement that no one wants to do the above and coalesce around one point for the entire game and ignore 90% of the map completely.

Are these the worst set of base maps ever released for an online FPS game? It's definitely the worst in my memory.

All I can say is I’m glad I did not spend money on this game (I file share with a friend on Xbox). I played it once and haven’t touched it since. And I usually have 20-30 people online at any given time and maybe 1-2 are playing it, if even that.
