I truly do think a lot of criticism would of been avoided for this game if they decided to push it back 6 to 12 months. It clearly needed more time in the oven to get a shitload of bugs out of its system and to provide a timely content drop. Even with the design issues in tow, it could of still been a lot better than when it came out initially. I love the Battlefield series, but man, this is the kind of shit management should get fired over. This is the kind of stuff that should make EA completely reconsider using Frostbite for any future games and either making a brand new engine or just go UE5.

Outside of Apex Legends, what internal EA property/internally made game has come out in the last 4 or 5 years that didn't have many, if any, hiccups? This doesn't include "It Takes Two," as it was published by EA, but made by an indie studio.

Well Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order I guess , EA really needs to avoid the urge to meddle with that studio.

The game has me so conflicted.

On the one hand, the bugs issue is a bit overblown at the moment. I started playing recently on PS5 and haven't really encountered anything worse than what I encounter in any other online FPS these days. Most of the issues have been fixed.

On the other hand, there are so many changes to the core Battlefield formula and none of them work. The specialist and class system is terrible. There's nothing redeeming about it. And the way they still have classes labelled "medic", "support", "recon" and "assault" as if to fool traditional Battlefield gamers into thinking this is still a traditional Battlefield game with those class setups is hilarious.

Being able to summon vehicles anywhere on the map is a terrible gameplay feature.

The guns all feel and sound the same.

Despite all of that I would still come back in a second if they just completely stripped away the specialist systems, put in the regular Battlefield classes and got rid of the magic vehicles.

There are so many people itching for anything other than COD/Warzone right now and they really could have done damage if this was a half decent product.

In the grand scheme of things, these just all point to the fact that this game should of been pushed back a full year. Give them more time for proper testing (alphas, betas, etc), animation fixes, traditional features that were missing from launch and also provide more maps and modes.

Also, trying to make BF grittier is baffling because it's never been "gritty". Another thing, at this point, can they really save it? I don't think so. The fact that they removed 128 player matches entirely really shows how low their actual player base is. Also, there are still too few weapons and I think they should be pushing Portal way, WAY more, as it was something people truly enjoyed.

Hazard Zone should of been scrapped off the bat. That should of not been a mode and they should of just focused on the core gameplay and maps of the main MP experience.

And then you can get something like this at a significantly lower price and it's still technically early access:

Jack Frags vid is 2 months old, the other is a bit over 2 weeks ago.

Basically, BF2042, while there were some fundamentals people hated, the game, as a whole to keep itself alive, NEEDED more time on the burner.

Good points. I'll look into world War 3. Been itching to play an online fps since 2042 collapsed

How hard is it to make a game with servers players can choose to go to, with 32 to 64 people? Shit at this point I might start playing cs go again 😂

I'd recommend trying out Insurgency: Sandstorm, especially if you were a CS Go fan.

They could have done damage if they didn't push it out the door so fast and release a solid product.

I was going to give it another try as they've been making some serious improvements in the game but no one is there to play with.
