I see this thread has been festering for a while, but let us not forget Goodrow is the player that proved Brisebois was the REAL mastermind behind Tampa's cup winning build.

Based on what? Nobody wants someone at 2 mil not able to put at least some points on the board. Championship experience only goes so far and Goodrow isn't anything special defensively.
disagree [up to a pt]
yes, not elite
but
solid def especially considering comp is not usually 4th line counterparts

Hanifin has stated he wants to play in that area. Extension possible.

Goodrow is a cap dump and needs a first to move his contract.

Also, those prospects are 5-10 range on most teams that have had draft picks

Hanifin is a rental until he signs somewhere.

Goodrow is a cap dump, but can just be bought out if it’d take a 1st to dump him.

Jones is a cheap 6-7D type OFD. Teams have space for those, and he’s actually been decent in limited ice time.

Perreault is 3rd in the NCAA in points, 2nd in points per game.

You’ve now proved (for the second time) that you have no idea what you’re talking about

What would you think is a suitable player to compare him to for this purpose? Is there any past trade that is a comparable here because I don't see it.

Rather than bought out he’ll be traded this offseason at 50% retained and at a $1.8 cap hit then you wont have to attach assets

The Ducks have the second most cap space in the league and I would not take him with a 1st attached. 10 mil in cash, not to mention the cap for the next 3 years, is not worth a late 1st.

Name me 5 teams that have 5-10 better prospects than Gabe Perrault.\

Oh, and Goodrow had 2 assist last night so his value is now a 6th instead of a 7th . :-P

Goodrow has a net positive buyout this summer (248k cap credit this summer) For a team like Arizona that may struggle to hit the floor in coming years, he might make sense to buyout if the Rangers trade, say a mid round pick with him.

Year 1: (248k)
Year 2: 1.02m
Year 3: 3.5m
Year 4: 1.1m
Year 5: 1.1m

It's really not a horrible buyout

I disagree. Goodrow being as bad as he is even at 50% will need assets attached or salary going back to get it done. Goodrow is not an NHL caliber player and is locked in for three more years. Even at 50%, you're asking a team to be on the hook for 5.625 mil in money for him. They'll need to attach something or take salary back to get that sort of deal done.

Agree to disagree. Hes not totally useless. Hes one of the better pk’ers in the league and averaged like 11g/20a past 2 years and is having one off year

The buyout is $6.7m in real, dead cash.

The market rate for that many real dead payroll dollars is a 1st + 2nd (or other assets and negative contracts in return worth a 2nd).

correct as usual
hence internal buy out = last resort
more likely retain almost half and peddle at 2 per
