ATD 2022 DRAFT THREAD I

ALL-TIME DRAFT 2022!

The draft will last 24 rounds. You must draft 2 goalies, 6 defensemen, 12 forwards, a coach, and 3 extra picks (reserves can be F or D).

1) The clock starts Monday, January 31st at Noon (EST).

2). Time Limits.

24 hrs for round 1
12 for round 2
10 for rounds 3-10
8 for 11-14
6 for 15-20
4 for rest.

One hour time window deduction for each skipped pick, with a minimum 4 hour clock guaranteed regardless of deductions.

3). TRADING IS ALLOWED

Trading Rules:

• Trading is to be reasonably fair and balanced and lopsided trades will need to be re-worked or dropped when multiple members object. Unless there is vocal displeasure with a deal, generally speaking we pass trades that get an OK from 3 veteran members.

• Each team may make up to EIGHT trades.

• Players CAN be traded during the draft as part of deal through the add/drop period. NO TRADING OF PLAYERS AFTER ADD/DROPS.

• No more than 4 assets per team may be traded at a time.

• A submitted trade DOES NOT count towards one of your 8 trades unless it is vetoed and the reworked deal gets vetoed as well.

• Swapping all positions before the draft doesn't count as a "trade" for the purposes of the above rules.

• Trading while on the clock is allowed. However please try and not make a habit out of using the entirety of said clock round after round looking for a last minute deal specifically.

4). ADD/DROPS - At the conclusion of the draft, there will be a 7 day period for add/drops. All add/drops must be 1-for-1. Dropped players will NOT be eligible to be added by other teams.

5). Regular season rankings MUST BE VOTED ON by at least one GM per team. The penalty if not done is a potential lowering in the standings because each GM will rank his own team first. Co-GMs who both vote each get half a vote for the regular season rankings in their own division.

6). NO MENTIONING UNDRAFTED PLAYERS!!!

7). PM the next GM after you have made your pick. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL!

ALL-TIME DRAFT 2022!

Anyway, prototypical franchise centre, captain, good at a little bit of everything and big and strong to boot. That's what I'm gonna do.

He also cut the classiest figure ever in bleu blanc et rouge, so I have to assume he'll look even better in teal and purple with an edgy cartoon horse.

I don't think I've done a Jean Beliveau team yet in the ATD.

I've done a lot of ATDs, OPPF, REDUX and speed drafts and have never drafted Lemieux or Beliveau. I respect them, though I have always gone elsewhere (never picked 4th overall in the ATD, where one must pick Mario or trade the pick away or be a fool).

Kind of… there are several players who are (generally) considered to be good value around 18 that I wouldn’t dream of taking 5-10.

To each their own, though. This would be a very boring game if everyone had the same opinions.

Colorado Avalanche legend Bourque is one of my favourite players of all time and rivals only Gordie Howe in consistency. An elite player from his first game to his last and in my opinion, the second best defensemen of all time.

Some dmen are good at bodychecking. Some are good at poke checking and/or loose puck recovery. Some are good at rushing. Some at shooting from the point. Bourque did it all at a high level. In fact, i have never seen another dman repeatedly check a guy into the boards, recover the loose puck himself and headman it up ice on the counter. Remarkable. Not flashy. But efficient, consistent, effective. I have heard Bruins fans lament the lack of talent around him. He played with only a couple of HHOFers in his two decades in Boston, so often leading his team in scoring, as a bloody defenseman!

I used to believe wholeheartedly that Hull was the 5th best player ever. I have had a lot of reasons to back off that position, but he still arguably is!

He has only 8 Hart trophy finalist nods because he jumped to the WHA and impressed there and took on the mighty Soviets and impressed there at age 35.

He easily could have played until the lockout, I mean he wasn't far off from winning the Norris in 2001.

But the job was done - it just would have been super cool to have him win Gold in SLC.

I remember him starting the rush over and over watching from the steep overhang seats behind the net at the Forum. Every feint he made froze the trap and he always found a way through. Incredibly cerebral player. And, in the offensive end, he was like a centerman with a big shot. I used to own his peewee jersey from the St. Laurent Jets (#7 of course), but someone stole it.
