Yep, looks like all those people longing for the physically tougher, imposingly big and strong Tampa Lightening were wrong...

Can you direct me to one post where someone said we should copy Tampa. Nobody said that, quite the opposite really. I was wondering how we got punked by Tampa not how we could be Tampa.

NHL Network played the Marlies/Phantoms ECF game from the AHL tonight, in which Toronto clinched a berth in the Final. I'm curious how much the city of Toronto follows the Marlies. I know it won't be near the level of the Leafs, but I imagine lots will still follow it.

the Pens looking to move Kessel sounds so much like Chicago out-thinking themselves and trading Panarin for Saad because of intangibles after a bad playoff run.

Or the trade that shall not be named. I don’t think it’s a good idea for the Pens to trade him. They’re not that far off from being right back in the final and it’s not like they have serious cap problems.

It feels like the Final is going to start around the same time as training camp.

Speaking of which, is it October yet? Or at least September?

I should be in great shape tomorrow - 6 AM???

There is a very strange vibe in Vegas the night before the SCF begins.

Usually, there is a buzz but 'The Strip' is oblivious to it, not unlike Manhattan before a Rangers game. 99% of the people here are from anywhere enjoying Memorial Day weekend. To be fair the VGK fan support comes from the city visitors never see. If this game was in Winnipeg the city would be bonkers

I had to work the rehearsal for the pregame on Sunday and my shot sheet was THREE pages. I can only say they are prepared for 'The Invaders from the East'.

I watched the Celtics loss at a sportsbook and it was surreal.

I REALLY hope Washington wins the Cup as that is a fanbase that has suffered.

I mean. The strip is a very small part and not really 'Vegas' the city. The strip is just the Vegas visitors see and think of

Love the update

My assessment if I had the future of earth in the balance based on picking the winner

1. REST

The delay gave Washington likely all they needed and Vegas used it well in prior series - it may even work for Washington as they at least played in the last week and Vegas has had time to realize what just happened these past 11 months

EVEN

2. GOALIES

Fleury has been spectacular but Holtby has both reputation and 2 back to back shutouts in do or die. Holtby as of today has talent and confidence

EVEN

3. COACHING

Gallant probably should get the Coach-of-the-Past-100-Years Award but Trotz is calm, smart, and a winning guy. They are both in great hands.

EVEN

4. TALENT

I been waiting for Vegas to fall back to earth since game 2 after they started 1-0. I picked against them the next 81 games figuring Law of Avwrages with a miss mash lineup. I picked against them in all 3 serries starting in a money pool with 50 guys when I took LA (thanks Doughty:laugh:)

I watched Reilly Smith here and Colin Miller and overall had a pretty good opinion going in on every player on Vegas. They on preseason paper were a 50-60 Point team.

The Caps have Kuznetsov, Ovie, Backstrom, Oshie, Carlson, Orlov and lots of grit and character guys.

WASHINGTON

5. BELIEF

Vegas for the first time has run into a team that believes in this as much as them.

EVEN

The clock strikes midnight for Cinderella or does it? Is anyone even aware in Vegas when it turns midnight?

It’s a great story and if Vegas wins it’s the ultimate about teamwork, believing, and the sum of the parts greater than the hole and everyone pulling in the right direction.

Anything is Possible would apply and would and should transcend sports

I’m a believer who would 90% of the time he on board for Vegas and the story but there is something about the Caps as well almost as interesting

I put my 0-85 Vegas record on the line against the ‘Caps won’t make the playoffs’

Pick: Washington in 6

Vegas comes out flying and scores in the 1st two minutes of game 1.

In all seriousness. Should be a good series. Could go either way. Biggest thing, Can the Caps skate with Vegas? Winnipeg has been the closest team to be able too and I don't think the caps are on their level as a whole like the Jets.

Clearly they are pumped up for the return of Celine Dion and the Knights are officially now taking a back seat:laugh:

Enjoy the game/experience

Probably won’t watch, but guess would rather the Caps win,an expansion team shouldn’t win its first season that’s just not right,I get a kick when I see people with Vegas shirts on and they say they are Vegas fans, really who have you been cheering for before this season.

I think it's going to be a fun series. Hard to get a feel for who will win since Vegas has been proving doubters wrong all season long and throwing conventional wisdom out the door. I will be pulling for the Caps since I like Ovi (when he's not injuring Bruins) and Trotz, and still have a problem with an expansion team winning the Cup in its first year. Not a huge deal, though, one way or the other. Vegas has been a great story. I don't really feel much emotion unless the Bs are involved.
