Bucyk (1) - McDavid (2) - Bossy (2)
Orr (5) - Potvin (1)
Hasek (4)

Went from the net out. The hard part was choosing between McDavid+Bossy or Messier+Jagr.

Actually

Crosby - McDavid - Jagr
Karlsson - Burns
Price

WITH SOME CASH IN THE BANK AS WELL

Would beat any other combination easily

What can Colorado do at this point? Jeez are they looking bleak with only 3 NHL defensemen in Barberio, Johnson, and Barrie with an unsigned Zadorov.

CBJ seems like a good partner on paper with some combo of Nutivaara, Anderson, Bjorkstrand, Murray, picks, etc.

They need to clean out that front office. That organization is a mess on almost every conceivable level.

It's so whack that only 3 years ago they were in the playoffs....

And 20 years ago they were a ****ing dynasty. Sucks to be a fan of that franchise. When does NHL step in and berate the owner and force his hand to fire sakic?

I think there's something to be said about the way Colorado and Edmonton have approached the drafts.

They stockpiled a lot of young forwards, but that left a lot of other positions pretty empty.

There's something to be said about trading down a little, getting more assets and making for a more well-rounded rebuild, rather than just stockpiling young, high-end forwards for several years.

Stockpile D first unless you have a shot at a mcDavid or Matthews type. D mature later, so you are more likely to have everyone hit their stride at the same time.

Oilers made a big mistake not trading down when they took Yakupov. Of course things worked out fine, but it annoys me to this day. Doesn't even make it worse that Yakupov turned out how he did.

I agree with both of you (Tawnos and Mac), at some point, you trade down, grab a defenseman and other young assets, and really fill out the cupboard.

Edmonton is somewhat finding a place to work, but that owes a lot to landing the guy who figures to lead this next generation of NHL'ers.

They've got RNH playing third line center, and they've already traded low on Hall to land Larsson.

In Colorado they've loaded up on forwards, and got an awful return on ROR. Essentially, they got stuck with a lot of guys who are all in the same production range (Duchene, ROR, and Mac), traded the best of the bunch, and didn't maximize their assets.

McDavid helped, but Chiarelli has entirely remade the backend, including in goal.

Which is what you have to do, especially today.

Everyone wants that star forward, but man does it ever make a difference when you have a core group of young, mobile defenders with room to grow.

who is that? :P
It will be a great challenge for him - he was on a cup contending team to a rebuild version. ;)

If the Demers for McGinn trade is a done deal, Arizona really rebuilt their goaltending and blue line. If they add one or two quality vets up front, I think they could make some noise.
