I don't think they are abandoning the rebuild. They are just done making the typical bottom out trades that rebuilding teams usually do.
I would be shocked if they abandoned that. Even when they had a half-decent team a few years ago, they were happy to take on bad contracts. They are still a cap floor team, they will take whatever value they can get.

If I were them I'd add vets on 1-year deals. If you're competitive you keep them but if you're out of it by the deadline you can flip them. And, while they're there, they can help the younger guys.

Good. But if this was the plan, then why trade Chychrun for less than he's worth? I get he wanted out, but mostly because they were rebuilding.

He was under contract. They should have kept him if they wanted to start winning.
