How often do we see Lee in position in front of the net waiting for barzal to stop with the ballerina act and just shoot it on goal. If he did that more, and with Dobson emerging as a top echelon blue line presence and if guys like Palmieri, Bailey, etc weren't having down years, I think Lee would clean up on tip ins redirects and rebounds

It's not his fault he's "overpaid." Who wouldnt have taken that deal right? He still is a strong net presence who is on a bad team for his strength this year

Was there anyone expecting him to outproduce Landeskog or even Krieder?

Don't think so, I think the point of that post was to show that some LWs who signed big deals are still producing around their career averages while Lee regressed.

It's not a big deal, Kreider had 20 goals and 10 assists in the 1st year of his new year and bounced back this season. If the team is playing to their potential, Lee's numbers will follow suit.

He's produced pretty close to his career average, this year excepted, and the whole team is down this year.

Having a problem with the contract, as compared to similar contracts, I can see. Having a problem with Lee, not so much.

If we didn't have Lee, people would be saying we need a big LW who can score 20+ goals. The guy is 6'3" 230 lbs. Players like him don't grow on trees. For what he brings, he may be overpaid but not outlandishly.

He’s on his way to 25 or so goals which is pretty much in line with career numbers. I think overall off the knee injury he has had a good year.

When the Isles had a half decent PP with Tavares as an option/decoy… I felt a lot of Lee’s success came from Leddy servicing the puck to the net.

Seeing Dobson make a number of high-low plays and getting the puck through to the net on the PP… I think Lee will rebound soon.

As Dobson gains in confidence, Lee will get more pucks in his office.

I watched some highlights from the first conference run, Lee moved much better. Never a gifted skater but i don’t think he’s fully there

For those following along, The Captain is now up to .42 goals per game on the season. That is above his career average and extremely close to his .44 GPG pace he was on prior to the ACL injury.

Per 82 games, that gets him to 34 goals - matching his 2016-17 output.

plus up until the last 5 games or so, the team was allergic to putting the puck on net therefore restricting the thing lee does best, SCORE AROUND THE NET

It's also possible he looks even better next year since it takes a while to feel comfortable pushing that knee to the limit again.

Keep him with Nelson and try and find a RW this offseason that is better than freakin' Beau.

Pageau and Palmieri also seem to be finding chemistry too.

astute point.....i DEFINITELY noticed he was having a little delay finding his "sea legs" so to speak the first 10-12 games or so. not only was he laboring a bit but i don't think he fully trusted the knee. you can easily see now how comfortable he is battling in front as well as in the corners, something i don't think he gets enough credit for. that guy is as strong as a moose. love the way he keeps his balance and uses his core to his advantage

In a speed centric league, Anders Lee is done as an impact player and possibly there is no role for him on any NHL team.

Power play specialist who bangs in rebounds and tips the puck, that's pretty much it.

You would think if you had one of those and a Pulock you make that the plan for your second unit power play.
Pulock is more Scott Norwood, so that’s a major problem with that philosophy. But, yes, put Lee in front and shoot at the net would be a good idea, but you know, you gotta ‘possess’ the play and have ‘zone entries’ and stuff like those advanced stats tell you. And when it doesn’t work, it’s everyone’s else’s fault.

Lee has taken a beating over the years in front of the net....
The wear and tear is starting to really show now.

He should really be on the fourth line and just be used as a powerplay specialist at this point.

You can’t skate with any NHL team with both Lee and Martin in your lineup as regulars.
