Better than we had last year. Of course a lot will depend on how the young players like Drysdale and LaCombe progress but at least they some better support.
Then next season gave Minty, Zellweger, and Hinds likely ready to make the jump to the NHL.
D is getting there, slowly but it’s getting there.

I think minty ends up on the team some time this year(maybe post deadline)…. As we can prob ship off bush and Hagg depending on the standings
yeah I think if he looks very good down in SD, could see him maybe late in the season.

Tough physical defender hard to play against usually equals ability to fight as well.

No, it doesn’t.
This is a guy I thought Verbeek would target, but I would think we would be the ones getting the pick for taking on the contract when Buffalo has too many defensemen and Illya was bad last year. I was also thinking that Gibson would have been involved with us getting a bigger return… it looks like a pouting Gibby is really sticking around.
He thinks Justin Holl is physical and tough
My biggest criticism was not addressing toughness, especially after the Terry incident, but he's slowly fixing it now.
We all need to be thankful here that Verbeek didn’t dump a 2nd round pick to acquire 5’9” Bryson to pair with Drysdale next year. We might not be targeting Celebrini but more like a top 5-8 pick to show “growth.”
We're targeting playoffs. According to the coach.
Whenever we played Arizona always stood out to me as a responsible dman with some bite. This is a great pick up I think

It’s clear that our new GM wants toughness, but he and Cronin are on record as saying guys need to be able to do more than just fight. I’m very confident we will be as close to a modern day big bad skilled ducks in 2-3 more seasons, with each passing season getting much closer to that.

"Usually" leaves room for some exceptions and I think Lybushkin is one of them. If he has a calling card, it's that he's known for throwing big hits. Sort of surprising he hasn't been forced into a few more scraps to be honest.
