Playoff picture is becoming real clear in the east. Isles with the games in hand could make a charge at the 2nd wild card, I guess so could Columbus. Jackets got humped by the Canes last night, though so let's see how they respond, but neither team looks good to do it. Bruins *may* catch Toronto.

Bruins mow seem to be in control of WC1 which means :dunno:

Obviously they would like to avoid Carolina but Tampa Bay could wind up as the #1 seed so who knows. But A3 is in reach but that means playing A2 which right now looks like Florida.

The battle for the top seeds look like they will go the wire - the Bruins look like they will play the #2 seed

Moving ahead of the Rangers and Pittsburgh won't matter.

Looking at the West - Vegas in in big trouble as they can't win reliably at home

So you think they catch Toronto. I think it comes down to what each team gets at deadline.

Had a 3 team parley going tonight. Carolina, Tampa and Vegas all to win in regulation....+288.

Eichel scores with 6 seconds left in the 3rd to bring it home.

Winners win Baby!

Toronto is either going to outscore their tending issues or trade for Fleury to fix it, so Boston will stay
in a WC slot.

Goal should just be to avoid Carolina

Cassidy agrees

From a coach’s standpoint, noted Bruce Cassidy, the focus of late has not been trying to size up matchups.

“For me, it’s more about the process of getting to where we are now — now that we’re with those teams,” said the Bruins coach. “Earlier on, I wouldn’t have put us at that level. Now we’re creeping up to it.”

The Hurricanes proved especially difficult for the Bruins this season. In their three meetings between Oct. 28 and Feb. 10, Carolina ran the table, outscoring the Bruins, 16-1.

“We haven’t seen Florida, Toronto, or Tampa in a while,” noted Cassidy. “When we do, we’ll be better able to measure ourselves. We’re not going to see Carolina the rest of the regular season, which is probably not a bad thing the way we played against them.”

It’s too early for Bruins to think about their first-round playoff opponent - The Boston Globe

Maybe a little 'hint hint' to Sweeney from Cassidy on that... But I could be looking too much into it.

People who believe that as constructed there isn't
a clear difference in talent between Boston and
TB, Carolina and Florida need to watch those teams more often as there is one.

if i had to face one of those teams it would be tampa right now.
Things can change at the deadline, but I think tampa is the weakest link out of those 3. They lost some key parts from the past 2 covidcups they won.

They lost some good depth forwards no doubt in
Coleman, Goodrow and Gourde but Colton, Raddysh
and Perry have done a decent job picking up the slack.

They still have the best Goalie and D group in the EC
and when they chose to deploy Point Stamkos and Cirelli down the middle its one of the 2 best in EC. Their winger group isn't as good as Boston but
Kucherov, Palat and Killorn is still good.

Regardless Boston needs A Hertl and Lindholm add to compete, not Kessel and Braun for instance.

Now suddenly not only is Toronto catchable but so is Tampa Bay

Florida appears poised to win the Atlantic and Carolina the Metro but who is the #1 seed :dunno:

There is going to be a cat and mouse situation developing over seeding and yes a Boston/Toronto matchup could happen.
