To me, this is the reason why I’d be confident in the Rangers locking him up for the maximum possible contract length. Haven’t really felt that about any other player.

Same. I'm not worried about his speed being sapped ala Kreider. There's no real physical trait that stands out from him that's going to deteriorate to the point of him being a degraded player.

Hell, even if he did "degrade" a bit, he'd still be a top pairing guy or elite second pairing guy.
