Schrodinger's Fox -- cerebral and not flashy and can't score against good teams, but also just puts up a bunch of points playing on the PP with Panarin, depending on what is being said in the thread at any given time.

I mean, it's not wrong to describe Fox as high-IQ and steady, but people are starting to talk about him like he's Marc-Edouard Vlasic or Karl Alzner. He's clowning opponents and making highlight-reel plays almost on a nightly basis.

Fox is a sure fire hall of famer (health provided) I’m confident in saying that. Not confident yet in saying that about the others so I’ll take fox easily. Mind is just on another level

lmao, can he play any defense?

Meanwhile, Fox is basically flawless on defense and produces just as much as Makar and people think Makar is overwhelmingly better? Oh cause he's "flashy". Never change HF.
We live in a sound bite world. Get the narrative out there and it becomes reality.
All three of these guys are players any team would sell its soul to have on their roster.
The notion, though, that Fox is behind these players is simply narrative. Anyone who watches all three play consistently would have an extremely hard time not voting for Fox.
The future is uncertain. Maybe Miro goes on a tear and distances himself. Maybe Makar becomes a more well rounded player while still putting up the points. But, right now, Fox is the best of the three.

Since when can Makar not play defence?

Granted he started slow and had a terrible game against Washington (-6), but it’s not his fault he has an on-ice save percentage of 82.

He can play defense but not nearly as well as Fox for example.

Even though I don't think they're flawless, the Makar WAR chart I found has his even strength def at 59th percentile while Adam Fox's is at 95th percentile. Heiskanen at 70%. Fox's EV offense is at 96% to Makar's 95%, by the way.

In 20 years, Adam Fox will be regarded the same way Nicklas Lidstrom is today.

Not that Makar and Heiskanen won't have great, potentially even Hall of Fame careers. Just Fox is a true generational talent.

It’s an absolute crime that Heiskanen has more votes than Fox. Makar shouldn’t have more votes than Fox either but he’s the bigger name despite being worse than Fox defensively and only slightly better offensively despite being on a significantly better team.

Fox’s status is lowered because he wasn’t a high draft pick and he’s a smaller defenseman that isn’t flashy but he’s better than both defensively by a clear gap. I know this term is overplayed by HFBoards especially due to the recent thread about it but people really don’t watch Fox. He’s the smartest defenseman in the league. If we’re being honest Makar really isn’t better than him. And if people think Heiskanen is better than him, they’re kidding themselves as Heiskanen doesn’t do literally anything better than Fox aside from his skating.

Probably a little too early to be comparing him to the second-best defenceman of all time (or third if you put Doug Harvey ahead).

Let's give him a couple of years.

Fox will be winning back to back Norris trophies. Sorry Makar, but get better a defense to get into the conversation, because Fox's offense is even better than it was last season while he continues to play flawless on defense.

Imagine being so insecure that your Norris winning defenseman didn't get enough votes to satisfy your wants that you write paragraphs about how wrong people are when you could literally just post a photo of the Norris Trophy.

Work smarter, not harder, kids.
9 games into the season :
Fox back to back Norris.
Lafreniere off to a good start in his second season.
Igor Shesterkin has arrived.

Imagine once Panarin, Zib, Kakko and Gallant get their own thread. It's over for us. At this point why bother playing against a Harlem Globetrotters team in NHL? :(

Put Miro with MacKinnon and Rantanen or with Panarin and Zibanejad and he would very likely produce the same points as Makar and Fox while still dominating defensively.

Zibanejad and Panarin don’t play on the same line. And even if Heiskanen had the same amount of points as Fox, he’d still be worse defensively than Fox.
