FUN FACT -- Flyers at MSG: One of the early games between these teams at MSG, Rangers' goalie Eddie Giacomin, among teammates, was unable to get to the arena because snowfall stranded a LIRR train. The Flyers were reported to be stranded on a different train for over nine hours. The game was delayed in excess of two hours and didn't start until after 9:15 pm. Rangers' coach-GM Emile Francis signed himself to a one-day contract as backup goalie to a dude named Don Simmonds. By NHL rule, Francis had to waive himself the following day.
