OCTOBER SCHEDULE:

QUOTES TO NOTE:

Almost every game, in our first three or four shifts, we’ve struggled.
I don’t think there’s any changes inside the room before the game, but in past years, we were just simple.
You look at the plays we tried to make early on, they’re kind of complicated plays and end up turning over the puck.
- Rick Nash

We’re trying to put together a full game here and we haven’t done that very much at all in any game.
It’s getting to a handful of games now where we need to start finding that right from the start.
- Ryan McDonagh

We’re a work in progress and there is a lot of work to do.
But I feel that everyone is willing to put in the time and effort to get better.
- Alain Vigneault

Trying to be excited for this game but it's hard to have hope of a win when we have a guy who was 7D just a week ago playing top pair now. Really gotta wonder if JG is going to let this madness continue and if so, for how long.

How can people have expectations for this team when Hayes and DD are our 2C/ 3C?I can empathize with Habs fans now.

Hayes put up 49 points last year, that's not so bad for a 2C in today's NHL, but having DD behind him is bad. Miller should continue acclimating to center Imo and should be with Zucc. Hayes and Nash with Zucc is kind of a waste because they're both allergic to shooting the damn puck and Zucc is our best set up man.

I can't watch a team where the coach doesn't know what the hell he's doing with personnel. There's just no rhyme or reason. So disheartening, we have a flawed but decent team, AV makes it just flawed.

I totally agree with you but that brings four questions to my mind.

1. Were Smith and ADA good in our first 2 games?
2. Are 3rd pairing defensemen expected to be good?
3. Have Holden/Kamp been on the ice for more goals than the guys they replaced?
4. Is this move expected to last forever or be temporary?

The bottom line for me is I want both Smith and ADA to play but their play in the first two games earned them a temporary benching. I guess I just find all the bellyaching to be a bit over the top at times.

@NickyFotiu To answer your questions from the other thread

1. Smith was not good, I thought ADA was fine. Regardless, they were hardly the only problems, but were certainly the scapegoats.
2. "good" is a relative term, but why not play the best options?
3. I honestly don't know
4. Hopefully temporary but AVs track record is not encouraging,

The belly aching doesn't come from benching players who didn't play well, it comes from the rewarding of players who also didn't play well. Its a double standard that AV has always had.

I'm sure we'll be hearing shortly what the lines for tonight are probably going to look like. I'm saving my outrage for the Zipay tweet that should arrive around 9:05 pm between the 2nd and 3rd period.

"Can confirm that tonight the Rangers will be playing the Blue Jackets" - Zipay at 8:30PM

Smith is back in tonight so Kamp is out and Smith's benching was temporary. Some guys on every team in every sport are going to have a longer leash than others based on their past play. Jimmy Johnson cut a RB for falling asleep in a meetting. When asked if he would cut Emmitt Smith if he falls asleep in a team meeting Johnson laughed.

I believe the answer to #3 is that Smith and ADA were on the ice for more goals than Holden/Kamp but I'm not sure.

Some of the bellyaching is warranted by a bad start but some of the bellyaching just comes from some people liking to bellyache. The Penguins have won two cups in a row. Some people have bellyache on their board all summer. Ditto the Golden State Warrriors board this summer after winning the NBA championship 2 of the last 3 seasons. Its like the person that complains about how high his insurance will go after winning a new Corvette. Some people just like to complain. :D

Lol anyone whose followed Montreal the past few seasons knew this was coming with DD. It was like a father/son relationship with Therrien and now AV will take over the reigns. If the PP1 wasn't so good he would be there too.

I have a bad feeling about this weekend. Hopefully they can play themselves out of this funk.

Anyway, I have plenty of pickles for luck.

I'm kind of thinking that a McDonagh/DeAngelo pairing as an experiment wouldn't be a bad idea. I very much prefer McDonagh on the left side and he is our best defensemen. He might be a good mentor for DeAngelo to work out some of his defensive issues. Just saying. And DeAngelo needs to play.
