No Provorov on either roster?

Maybe not all roster locks need to be dressing for the first preseason games.



For the 7pm game they have 3 locks (Werenski, Severson, Gudbranson) and 3 AHL/CHL-bound guys (Mateychuk, Bjork, Svozil) on defense.

For the 1pm game there are 5 competing-for-remaining-2RD/3LD-spots guys (Peeke, Boqvist, Jiricek, Berni, Blankenburg) and 1 AHL-bound player (Christiansen).

Of course that might not be the actual reasoning behind D lineup decisions but that's how I kinda see it. As excited as I am to watch Mateychuk and Svozil play later, the 1pm game still seems more interesting because of the implications it may have for roster decisions on defense.

I thought there was going to be system changes? I am seeing the same for defensive zone coverage and breakouts?? Early but seeing more of the same.

Vincent did say there was only going to be some “tweaks” to it. Not a full change

They needed more than just tweaks especially on breakouts and defensive zone coverage. Tweaks imply it’s good but you want to make it great.

Voronkov has been noticeable on board play and sandpaper. So that is a positive.

Was it tweaks to what they had planned with Babcock, or to Larsen's system?

Jiricek and Blanks were best D in the first imo. Voronkov looks faster than in Traverse City.

Yeah I wasn’t very happy when he said that. It needed an overhaul
