6'3" 179lb winger from Minot, North Dakota. Close to home. Played in 2022-23 at Shattuck St. Mary's prepschool, plans to play in the USHL in 2023, a commit to Western Michigan University for 2024.

Wonder if they have their eye on Hunter Anderson as well. Played with Nehring and had 30 more points, but is only 5'9".

I guess so.

Isn't Perron also used to it?

Seems like a wasted pick to me, but maybe something clicks.
Perron seemed like a better option, but he's likely a player that would struggle to find space among the Jets' group of forward prospects.

Love the pick. Nehring is a physically under-developed 6'3" forward weighing under 180lbs. He's skipping major junior to play NCAA next season where he will undergo proper strength training and have the freedom to bulk up over the next 3-4 seasons.

He could realistically be 6'4" and 205lbs+ when he's done college and he plays a big mans game: throws big hits, agitates, wins puck battles, hard forechecker, great along the boards etc.

He looks like he could become a playmaking RW version of Lowry at his peak. For a 3rd rounder this could be good value. He certainly fits the current Jets mould of big/tough/intense/skilled

Maybe the Jets are taking a page from the Coyotes playbook. According to one of the talking heads trying to make sense of the Yotes' rather baffling 1st round selections, they did it because they have too many prospects needing contracts soon or they risk losing them. Russians are guys they can wait on for years if need be. Nehring is our "Russian".

Winter is Coming
Some of you guys really buying in to the picking guys cuz weather stuff. It's a pretty dumb move in the 3rd since most these guys are long shots. They probably just liked him more than others

He's not skipping the USHL, he didn't make the Stampede this season.
