They pump up around your legs to stimulate blood flow as it adds pressure. Had them on my legs when I was in the hospital in the last 3 years.

It is a bit strange. Normally lower limb injuries (hip/knee/legs) confer higher clot risk, especially cause they impact mobility.

I agree with you, and would expect a simple thumb surgery to have very minimal post-op clot risk. I’m not up to date enough on plastic/ortho/anesth literature to comment on specifics though.

Reports are also telling that Bo Byram is showing some concussion symptoms.

It’s standard procedure in hospitals these days. My wife has had a couple non-invasive procedures over the years and she had to wear compression socks for hours during and after them. Doesn’t really matter what’s being done, they don’t want to take the chance.

I wish they had used those on my wife's legs when she had spine surgery (Fusing L3-4-5). She was on the table for 6 hours, and ended up with DVT and Pulmonary Embolism. Doc that did her clot surgery said it was 50/50 she woke up for that one, and she was pissed at the aftercare for the back surgery. Of course, the hospital says the Ortho did nothing wrong. No socks during or after, no leg massages, nothing. Even the nurses were confused by some of the orders ... some were saying she needed to move, some said she should be in bed for days, not getting up for anything.

The Hemotologist is no longer at that hospital, and I wonder why.

But on topic...I am not at all surprised by the injury list. And I believe there are a not-insignificant number of names missing from it.
