With hockey being over for the season and self-isolating at home, I've spent the extra time reading up and watching as much as I can on prospects for the upcoming draft.

As you are all aware, this draft is absolutely key to the future success of the Ottawa Senators. Though there's lots of uncertainty on how the draft and lottery will unfold, Ive put together my top 75 rankings. I picked 75, as the Sens currently have 9 picks in that range. I understand that my rankings may differ from others and with all other things being equal picked players I'd like on the Sens.

I'd like to get the opinions of hfsens on who I might have too high, too low, glaring ommissions/players I should check out. I have a lot more free time than normal right now.

Further to that, I'd be interested in starting a thread to get other hfsens top 75 rankings over the course of a month or two, to compile and get an average ranking. If the idea gets enough interest, I'll put that together and provide weekly average ranking updates.

Without further ado...

Great list, Bubba. Thanks for sharing. Agree with a lot of your higher ranked guys (i.e. Chromiak).

Curious - you have Poirier very low. Don't like him, or just don't know him that well? Typically seen as a 1st rounder, you have him late 2nd. Would love if the Sens landed him in the 2nd.

For me 28-60 is all very close. The reason why I have Poirier as low as I do is my concerns about his defensive awareness and how it will translate to the nhl. Specifically, his positioning and decision making defending in front of his own net and how he shy's away from physicality. IMO, he almost seems scared of physical contact and that is just not something I want in a defenseman.

Nice lists - I’d love to get B.Schneider with our 4th pick :)

I hope we draft with most of our top 6 picks.

With what is going on in the world and my school dropping grades for this semester, I have a lot more time on my hands.

I saw @RAFI BOMB was mentioning OBS, so I decided to take a shot at it.

Here are some clips from Shakir Mukhamadullin. I think most of the clips are pretty self-explanatory. They are all from the same game. It is only one game, but for a player that is talked about for his defensive ability, he did show some pretty nice offensive skills. I tried to show a variety of clips: A full shift, some plays under pressure, some nice moves and plays, and some mistakes.

Yeah, he could easily go as early as late 1st round, but I'm not sure he fits the profile of our drafting approach. He definitely has top 4 upside. Frankly, we just haven't leaned on a Russia at all, and I'm not sure any of our Euro scouts prioritize it at the same level as Scandanavia and other areas of Europe.

I've been watching some games of Brendan Brisson. I really like his game. Very shifty and has the confidence to make skillful moves in high danger positions. He can turn a nothing play into a goal. Insane edgework.

I like your list. The variance between yours and mine is the reason I'm thinking of starting the thread.

Between the two list:
93 different players were chosen.
My highest ranked player not in your top 75 was Jacob Perrault at 23
Your highest ranked player not in my top 75 was Vasili Ponomaryov at 34

Average Ranking (I've assigned 84 (93 total players - 75 players per list = 18, divided by 2 lists = 9, plus top 75 = 84) as a ranking to all the players in my top 75 that are not in yours and vice versa). Not sure that is the best way, its just what I came up with. If anyone has a better way, I'm open to suggestions.

If Ottawa could end up drafting the way they are ranked now with the 2nd & 3rd OA picks I could see them drafting a future top line. For example, if they draft Byfield with their 1st first rd pick & Stutzle with their next 1st rd pick, than trade up to get a Jack Quinn RW with their 3rd 1st rd pick plus whatever assets work to make a deal, if possible. Than concentrate on the BPA in the 2nd rd including some good big defencemen. If the opportunity presents itself I would also try & draft Cuylle LW in the 2nd or Dylan Peterson C in the 3rd rd.

Stutzle (2) - Byfield (1) - Quinn (3)
Tkachuk - White - Batherson
Formenton - Norris - Pinto
Paul - Peterson - Kastelic

Please no more Sabourin types on this team (I don't see a place for those types with the plethora of better prospects coming up).

Byfield and Strudel would be awesome, I am more curious about who they pick second after landing Laf. Byfield? Stu? Drysdale?

Than concentrate on the BPA in the 2nd rd including some good big defencemen. If the opportunity presents itself I would also try & draft Cuylle LW in the 2nd or Dylan Peterson C in the 3rd rd.

Stutzle (2) - Byfield (1) - Quinn (3)
Tkachuk - White - Batherson
Formenton - Norris - Pinto
Paul - Peterson - Kastelic
White C is too small for that lineup

I don’t see the value in giving up say #21 and #45 for Quinn. That could be Sanderson/B.Schneider + Jarvis/Foerster or who ever you like. I also see Pinto as this teams 3C and Norris 2C by 2022. Big kid, battles hard, great on the dot etc.

No one ever discusses it but if your going to move to 10OA to get Quinn why not try 8-9 where Rossi/Perf may fall.

It sucks that we won't where where our draft picks will land for a who knows how long.

Usually the draft lottery takes place before the playoffs start.

I have some players I want more than others, but the thing I love about this draft is that even if they dont pick the players I want whoever they pick is still going to be a great pick.

I like Rossi more than Perfetti, but if we get Perfetti? I'm not complaining too much. He's got sky high upside as well and might end up better. Miss out on Byfield and Stutzle and end up with Raymond? I'll take it, we're still adding a top tier offensive talent.

As long as Dorion doesn't try and pretend hes the smartest person in the room it's impossible to mess this draft up with the picks we have.

Definitely should insert Brown over White there, I forgot about him.

I watch mine all live from a shady website that I'm probably not allowed to say on here?

But this major European streaming service Telia bought the rights to Finnish Liiga so they've really cracked down on streaming of Liiga games.
What is your opinion of Dmitri Rashevsky? He is a 2nd year draft eligible and really lit it up this season. He scored two goals in this recent playoff game and he wears number 11.

Confirmed with link: Sens 1st + Sharks 1st for extended Ceci 9 million 8 years

Dorion during the post trade presser:
Media: So why make this trade
Dorion: " Well i have always loved Ceci and it broke my heart to have to trade him. I wanted to do anything in my power to get Ceci back who is our lord and savior"
Media: Don't you think the fans will be mad at this trade.
Dorion: Nope
Media: Why do you say that?
Dorion: Because we're a team.

Thanks dude. I've seen most of the players in the top 20 or so a lot. After that it's been pretty sporadic. I included a couple of players I've never seen at all.

I'm sure I like your list too, but I just haven't seen too much of Chromiak, Foerster, some other players you really like.

I think the Sens should be going out of their way to target Yegor Sokolov. The AHL team will be depleted next year due to graduations, and Sokolov will be able to step right into an AHL depth position. Upside is a big power forward who could maybe play a complementary role on a scoring line. I've also quite liked Bashkirov, as far as over-agers and Russians.

One other thing, missing Perreault was an oversight on my part. I initially had him in the early 40s, but was shuffling names around and he got left off somehow. No big deal, I'll update my list next month anyway.
