Someone on the Sweden WJC thread posted this tweet of all the goals. Lias is on the 5th one. Not sure if he's number 21 or 24 yet, but both players make nice plays leading up to the goal.

Pronman wrote about the top Euro prospects playing at the WJC this year. The picture at the top is of our boy, Lias :D

World Junior Championship preview: Top European prospects

Filip Chytil, C, New York Rangers
NHL draft: First round, 21st overall in 2017
I’ve written a lot about Chytil this season. He was injured recently, bruising his spine (yes, seriously) after being hit from behind in an AHL game, so we’ll see how that affects him going into this tournament. I think he should be a top performer at this event if healthy given his performance all season.
Lias Andersson, C, New York Rangers
NHL draft: First round, seventh overall in 2017
Andersson has been good in the SHL this season for Frolunda, but I wouldn’t describe him as a top player. At the world juniors level, though, he’s expected to lead Sweden’s forwards in minutes played due to his ability to score and play a gritty game down the middle. He has a lot of nice components. He has some skill, he skates well, he plays hard and he can PK.

I don't know why we are keeping Kemp and Perunovich over Walsh.

You figure Hughes and Fox will run the 1st PP unit. But which righty works with Perunovich on PP2? Peeke and Kemp are not really skilled with the puck.

Perunovich is a lefty and a PP specialist. He's been great and Motzko sees a lot of him in the NCHC. That probably has something to do with it.

You could have Anderson, but then you could also have Walsh, if you kept him over those two. You could also run two 4 forward PP's, and have neither. Hughes and Fox can both run PP's themselves, we don't need Perunovich.

Based on where the roster is at, I say cut Kemp, and have Perunovich as the 7th D.

I think this US team is poised to do some serious damage. Yamamoto should be ready to annihilate this tournament.

Sweden cutting Elvenes and Olofsson, keeping those fourth line grinders. Woof.

I kind of like our team, only big disagreement I had with the roster was no Walsh, and instead keeping Perunovich. Motzko kept his boy, he should not be playing that type of favoritism with his rosters.

I don't like the Mittelstadt at center experiment, I'd just keep the top line together.

Go with this up front

Mittelstadt-Brown-Yamamoto
Bellows-Poehling-Harper
Tkachuk-Frederic-Anderson
Jones-Norris-Lockwood
Tufte

Maybe switch Tkachuk and Jones, depending on effectiveness.

Lindgren-Fox
Hughes-Peeke
Samberg-Anderson
Perunovich

I don't see how Lindgren-Fox isn't the top pair, and they don't see heavy minutes. Peeke will be needed to babysit Hughes. Samberg-Anderson could be a shaky third pair, but its not like we've got better options, so maybe limit their minutes. I don't know about this defense, we need it to not be terrible. It might be terrible though.

Oettinger
Woll
Swayman

Oettinger has to play. I don't think we win if Woll plays.

PB I will never understand how you think Max Jones is better than Tkachuk. I don’t even think he’s better than Gettinger. He has 3 f***ing assists in the OHL in his D+2 year on London.

Jones is a very effective player. Power forward, great skater, hits, great on the forecheck, gets to the net, he can score as well. Tkachuk is going to be a better NHL player, but he's probably not as good right now, and he's wildly overrated as a draft prospect. If we are relying on him to score, we are in big trouble. He's not the scorer that Matt is. We are talking about roles here, can't guarantee Tkachuk anything. I think he's liable to being dropped from the side altogether. He might come out next for Tufte if a change is made, thats probably between Jones, Lockwood and Tkachuk. No way is Gettinger better than Jones.

I guess the beauty of this conversation is that we can let their play do the talking next week. I'm not denying that Jones isn't industrious and a typical lunchpail, meat n' potatoes kinda kid, but I think he's very overrated. For that type of player you described, he should be doing much better than he currently is on a decent team like London. I guess we'll just leave this here for now and pick it back up next week. One thing I'll note is how it's weird how that whole crop of US kids from the 2016 draft are all either behemoths or crazy skilled smaller kids.

Lines in practice for Sweden, not the best line mates for Lias;
1 Nylander - Lindström - Pettersson
2. Karlsson - Andersson - Boqvist

Montén splittrar stjärnorna

Monten is going to ruin your chance of winning it if he keeps putting these grinders on the top lines. I could understand Karlstrom as a support player on line 2, but Lindstrom centering line 1 is insane.

Player behind an overrated support player. That feels familiar to Lias.
