Colorado won 5-2, San Jose lost 2-0 and LA is currently losing 7-1 to St.Louis.

Oh baby. I love it when you talk like that. I would have loved it if Colorado lost too, but San Jose and LA losing ain't too bad.

I would love for someone to explain to me where this mythical 96 points came from because over the last 10 years in the Western Conference 90 points would have gotten you in the playoffs 50% of the time, 92 points 70% of the time. Only twice in the last decade has 96 points been required to earn a berth in the Western Conference.

I've always wondered this too, but never bothered to look up previous years for comparison so this actually answers something I've often thought about.

I think we have a better chance of getting third in the Pacific then we do of passing Colorado for a wild card spot they're getting our 2015 luck this year.

Would anyone be interested in me adding another tab on the standings spreadsheet for schedules that includes strength of schedule? By that, I mean it would include the record/winning percentages of all opponents plus the average for each of the playoff contenders?

My guess is the answer to your question in the first sentence is answered in the last one.

One year that number was the focus and now lazy fans keep using it because it is easier to just repeat a one liner than to look up or do the math required to get things right.

Speaking of the strength of schedule, the next 5 games are a pretty good opening for the Flames:

vs Isles
vs Oilers
vs SJ
@ Vegas
@ Yotes (B2B)

I'm still pessimistic about our chances but if we can take 8 out of 10 points from that we'll be in much better shape.

8 of our last 12 games are at home. Our last two games of the season are against the Jets and Knights who will likely be resting some key players.

The window is there for a 9-3 record. It does involve the team being semi-competent in their own barn though

Anaheim lost 4-2 to St. Louis, Anaheim is still 2 points up with the same number of games played but now Stl is now 1 point up on us with 1 game in hand.
LA is beating Vancouver 2-0 and San jose is beating Detroit 3-2, both of those game are in the 3rd period.

Hi guys, I come in peace. I didn’t see a thread, I’m sorry if there is one and I missed it but has there been any updates on Tkachuk?

Ok good, I have him in both my leagues and there were no updates. I’m from London, I’ve been a fan of his for a while now!
