Just take a center because there is not a single legitimate center prospect in the entire organisation, I don't want to hear about Gauthier or Lindholm or Brooks, those are not prospects especially Lindholm he's already 26.

AAltohonen isn't a legitimate center prospect either he's a 4th liner at best.

We NEED to fix the center depth because all we got is Matthews and Kadri after that we got sweet f*** all

Maybe Nylander.... But, we do need a third line C.... but we are going to have to sign one as a UFA, or trade for one this year. Even if we get lucky, and a Veleno drops to us... they wouldn't be NHL ready for a couple of years. (typically) This draft isn't going to help us much NOW.

These players have been ranked between 24-26 at different points of the season. Surprised to see Hayton on more than one list as a faller into our area. Most have him around 13-15. There are players who shift in and out of the top 20 like Noel, Denisenko, Sandin, Wilde. Plenty of quality players will be in our area, but they will probably fall into the second round too....how far is just a guess.

I like it. It looks like you thought through every pick and even put in some names that don't necessarily follow mock board "consensus".

Senators taking Merkley at #22 is interesting. With Karlsson likely going, they may want to take the risk with Merkley. Or does the Hoffman drama make them shy away from such a pick?

I can't see them passing on Zadina or Tkachuk at #4, but who knows. Maybe they go for Dobson. Still, a Tkachuk/Merkely first round would really help that organization, IMO.

Veleno was tough one for me to drop. I just don't see the same potential there that I see with few others. I proably am wrong, but do you like it otherwise ?

It's a pretty good effort yes. I don't see Kupari dropping that far, or Merkeley going in the first round. I think Montreal will draft for position here, maybe moving their pick, but you can't predict that in such mocks as this.

Depends if you're looking at floor or ceiling. For me, I take him no question as he's almost NHL ready now and his floor (imo) is at the very worst a defensive 4C.

pretty sure this exact quote was used after we drafted Freddy the goat! not by you i mean in gerneral. The goat will be extremely lucky to ever be a full time NHLer. Alot of 'High floor' players seem to never hit their high floor

If you watch the two, you'd understand that although thats Veleno's floor, he also has the ability to be a top-6 forward. Gauthier doesnt have that and never did.

not comparing the players here, although the goat 0.94ppg in the Q and Veleno 0.95. i am just saying the high floor thing i dont like, he must be a pretty big long shot to be top 6 other wise he wouldnt be getting rated in the 2nd round

So because some have him in the 2nd, youre going to ignore the others that have him top-15?

He's going to be a NHL player, we just dont know in what capacity yet.

seems to be dropping in quite a few lists. Anyway, i didnt start out meaning to tear down veleno if we draft him i dont have a problem with it. I was just commenting on the 'nearly nhl ready' and '4C floor' stuff, he has never played professional hockey and hasnt absolutely torn up the Q so his floor is still bust he is no more liley to make the NHL than anyone else where we pick

Meh. I'm convinced he's gonna turn into at least Lars Eller.

id hope for a lot better than a lars eller in the 1st round, 0.36PPG is not really that exciting. but i guess an NHLer is an NHLer.

Eller has played alot more LW than C, if veleno turned into a low scoring winger that would be a waste

@S2S Great post, almost completely mirrored my feelings (though my "group of 19" is a group of 21 that drops Merkley and adds Hallander, Johansson and Bernard-Docker)

So judging by everything posted here, a trade up (or trade down) in the first round doesn't look likely given that either we, or the team we're targeting, will have to overpay, as there isn't quite the perfect match, value-wise.

What about moving our 52nd pick up? Let's say for the Islanders at 43 or Rangers at 48 (both have tons of picks). Any math experts know what it would cost? Those picks (particularly 43) is most likely going to have some pretty good player available. Guys like Foudy, Hallander, O'Brien, Tychonick, Beudin, Ginning, Bernard-Docker, Lundkvist, Ranta and Alexeyev. If Alexeyev is there at 43, I'd be all over that.
