Some quick questions on the expiry date of some pending prospects that for the most part aren't on the list and that a few of you might be able to answer:
ANA - '15 6th Garrett Metcalf (drafted from USHL; currently in NCAA)
BUF - '16 7th Vasily Glotov (drafted from MHL; currently in QMJHL)
NYR - '15 7th Adam Huska (drafted from SVK/USHL; currently in NCAA)
PHI - '15 3rd Brendan Warren (drafted from USHL; currently in NCAA)
PIT - '16 2nd Kasper Bjorkqvist (drafted from FIN; currently in NCAA)
TBL - '15 6th Kris Oldham (drafted from USHL; currently in NCAA)
TOR - '15 3rd Martins Dzierkals (drafted from LAT/MHL; currently in AHL/ECHL/limbo)
Metcalf, Huska, Warren, and Oldham I imagine just simply become FAs after college is done - easy answer, but can't remember what it means for Bjorkqvist to go from Europe to NCAA.
And do Glotov and Dzierkals get the standard European 4 year treatment, or does the "rights-until-27" policy extend from KHL to the MHL?
Garrett Metcalf - drafted 2015 at age 19, became a college student in draft+2, rights held until 2020, or 2019 if he leaves school before his senior year.
Kris Oldham and Adam Huska - drafted 2015 at age 18, became college students in draft+2, rights held until 2020, or 2019 if he leaves school before his senior year.
Brendan Warren - drafted 2015 at age 18, became a college student in draft+1, rights held until 2019.
Kasper Bjorkqvist - drafted 2016 at age 19 from Europe, became a college student in draft+1. CBA doesn't explicitly say how NCAA and European rules interact, but in the end the math is almost identical. Rights held at a minimum till 2020, maybe until 2021 if he stays in school through his senior season.
Vasily Glotov - drafted 2016 at age 19 from Russia/MHL. Went to the QMJHL in draft+1. There is no transfer agreement between the NHL and the Russian Hockey Federation/KHL. Rights are held indefinitely (not until age 27). There are ways the player can appeal to the NHL to become a UFA if the team isn't attempting to sign him.
Martins Dzierkals - drafted 2015 age 18 from Latvia/MHL. Went to the QMJHL in draft+1. Only notable difference between his situation and Glotov is that Dzierkals was drafted from Latvia. Would have to do some more research if that makes a difference.
