Do canada not have the debth to send like 3 teams that could win the olympics? yea they have so stop at least as a canadian to talk about a B team , canada named 60 players for there last pre olympics roster
I think they could have beat Sweden in Sochi with the team they had in 2015.

Curious who the six players are that you agree with being put on the team?

Also what happened to the not so subtle threat that if a guy was on the bubble for the World Cup team he better show up in Russia? Seems to me a lot of bubble boys are not taking this too seriously.

Hall, McDavid, Duchene, O'Reilly, Rielly and Marchand. 7 if you include C Talbot, but I would have preferred him being #2 and not the #1 starter. But maybe that number will inch a little higher once all the 1st rd. series are done.

And Hockey Canada says a lot of B.S., it's mostly just for out consumption and the number 1 rule of corporate bureaucrats - save your own ass, somebody else is to blame.

For now? Canada doesn't add players once the tournament is in progress unless it's an emergency injury replacement, otherwise they'll pick 22-23 players at that's it.

J.T. would have been a big add, but I'd much rather see him go on a long playoff run.

I see.

I guess we can scratch him off the list then.

They will have roster spots available. You can add up to 25 players at any point of the tournament, and if the Isles don't advance to the next rd. and J.T. indeed wants to come in late, Hockey Canada would be royally stupid not to bring him in late. It's just that Hockey Canada is inclined not to go that route...further proof that Hockey Canada is not all that committed to winning tournaments. Only once and a while, when the losing streak gets to be too long and journalists start beaking a little too loudly with some unfavorable press, making it uncomfortable for the bureaucrats.

Pointless? Funny, have you watched him this season? Probably not. He had terrific year (59 points) and was great against the Caps in play-offs.

Yeah but he's totally redundant on this lineup. He's not going to provide a leadership role, he's not heads and shoulders more talented than anyone on the forwards, he's just more of the exact same.

At this point we should be getting only these qualities: Veteran leadership upfront or on the back end, high end talent like Giroux or Tavares, top pairing defensemen, and top quality goalies.

We don't need more 2nd line young forwards.

I don't read anything into Dreger's tweet. Obviously Hockey Canada would be considering those players, and I'm sure several others as well. I would be interested if Giroux was considering playing for Canada.

He's played 354 games in the NHL, 24 in play-offs, played 2 times on the World Championships, he can definitely provide some sort of experience or leadership. Not as much as you would probably want, but he's not such a youngster anymore. Scored also some clutch goals.

This is a strange POV. Last time I checked Schenn plays multiple forward positions, is coming off a great season, and is a strong two way forward with some grit. Would you take an elite offensive player like Giroux over him, yep but this is the WCs and you're choosing from a shallow pool. Schenn would be a great add and could play anywhere in the lineup

Well he'll probably only be playing in the bottom two lines, as he's not skilled enough to replace any of the players in the top 2 lines, and as a bottom 6 forward, we have the exact same players already. What does he add to the team that it doesn't already have? He's not a defensive specialist, he's not a superstar, and despite your claims, he's not a veteran. He didn't even play in the tourney last year.

I have nothing against Schenn, but he doesn't make this team any better.

He did play last year. well, a game or 2. He was a healthy scratch as Crosby took his spot. I'd prefer a few other players, but if he's invited and accepts, then that's okay too. I'll reserve my disappointment for Monahan and a few other Calgary players who should be there and are not. props to Schenn if he answers the call and chooses to give it another go.

Do you think the "Bubble Boys" who do not show up for the WC in Russia will still be considered for the World Cup? I think the Calgary defenders should be scratched automatically along with Subban. In terms of the Blues and Hawks bubble defense we shall see if they respond.

I have literally nothing against Schenn. If he was added before the likes of Jenner, Schiefle (spelling? ), Gallagher, Domi, Reinhart, I would have been psyched. He's been a good soldier for Team Canada, I think he's a good player at what he does. But he adds absolutely nothing to the team at this point that we don't already have.

Giroux would be a great add. Carter (who for sure won't go) would be a great add, Ekblad would be a great add, Campbell would be a great add, Nash would be a good add.

No, it will never happen. Even for a gimmicky World Cup, Canadians value it over the WHC, therefore Hockey Canada wouldn't want to impact that team for the sake of a tournament which Canadians value much less. Which tournament I value more? A real Canada/World Cup minus the gimmicky teams. As it stands right now, with the gimmicky teams, I prefer this IIHF WHC tournament. and believe me, I never thought I'd see the day when I would say such a thing. But thanks, Gary Bettman.

Hockey Canada will lightly stomp their feet and voice some displeasure, but that's all P.R. and nothing more.

If Taffoli says no, then Reilly Smith would be decent add...if Smith says no, then we are left with Nash.

If both Minnesota D-men refuse, then, hope for a Preds loss and Ryan Ellis becoming available... enjoy a 1/4 game elimination game, because that's as far as we get this year.

It's just my personnal opinion but I'd much rather take Max Domi over his dad.

I know that Seabrook/Pietrangelo, or Ekblad and Muzzin are the thing here, but if we have to, I would love to take Scandella and Spurgeon...would be happy for them to win something with Canada, after such a great comeback with the Wild...well..almost comeback. That third period was just amazing from them.

good catch. I could claim it was a typo, but I've made it at least 3-4 other times as well. must be the few dustups Max got into as the season came to a close that got me thinking of his old man.

<-------and in honor of J.T.'s series clinching Double OT goal....I just had to change my pic.

Good Toronto Boy...Oakville. whatever.

Jeff Carter can will go IIHF Worlds?)))))

Doubtful. I hope he does but I would be shocked.

If we added Doughty, Ekblad, Giroux, and Carter then Canada would be favoured for Gold. Hard to see all of those guys going.

Doughty would be perfect for what we need. Long shot that he comes I know, but anyone think there's a chance? Chance for the Triple Gold like what Crosby went for. No idea if it matters to him but it might.
