So as things stand as of this morning:

XXXXX-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-AA-Kane
Panik-Kruger-XXXX
Desi-Rasmussen-XXXX
Mashinter,XXXXX

Keith-Seabs
XXXX-Hammer
Kempny-TVR
Rosival
Stanley has a lot of work to do because that lineup is fighting for 4th in the division.

At this point, why not embrace three defensive-minded forward lines, and one ridiculous offensive line? Backing that up with a solid defense (once Campbell comes back), and top-10 goalie could be interesting.

I feel like trying to fill that lineup with legit offensive threats will be nearly impossible given the lack of cap space.

So lets imagine if Staal joins the Country Club with Campbell, two options:

Panik - Toews - Schmaltz
Hartman/Motte - Staal - Kane
Panarin - Anisimov - Hossa
Desjardins - Krüger - Lundberg

Keith - Seabrook
Campbell - Hjalmarsson
Kempny - TVR

or

Staal - Toews - Schmaltz
Panarin - Anisimov - Kane
Panik - Krüger - Hossa
Desjardins - Rasmussen - Lundberg

Keith - Seabrook
Campbell - Hjalmarsson
Kempny - TVR

Both might work actually, but I like the first choice. Let Panarin handle himself at least in the fall and when the hard times come, unite Panarin & Kane.

I'd be happy with Staal and Soupy signing. I think the writing is on the wall for a defenseman. There are just too many of them at this point. I think TVR will stay because Q loves him. So that leaves Gus or Pokka to be moved. Pokka needs to be in the NHL this year, so having him start in RFD shouldn't be an option. There is a real opportunity cost to that.

Panarin making less than Schmaltz and Motte looks funny.

BK, TVR is worth WAYYYY more than that.

I mean Hall fetched that NJ guy. I mean solid young NHL D men don't grow on trees. You would get a lot for TVR, a roster F for sure. But we can't afford it so let the kids get better. Don't trade an asset for less than it is worth. Stan sadly has had to. We don't have to now.

I don't think TVR will get you much in a trade. But I have little interest in Kapanen. We should trade one of our young Dmen, but would prefer someone better than Kapanen.

Capfriendly does some strange things when I send players like Gus to the AHL so I did the math myself in excel. This roster seems pretty doable unless I am missing something. Maybe the way bonuses are covered?

I included Scud, Runblad and Overages.

What? TVR is a 5-6 dman so his worth is about that. Hall did fetch that and it was a terrible trade. Ideally we Change the 2nd to a 3rd or 4th. Kapanen is a top 6 potential wing and TVR is a bottom pairing defenseman. You are over valuing our asset and it it hillarious to even bring up the Hall trade.

We can 100% afford to let the kids on d get better and used to the NHL. Hell I would argue that Pokka is an upgrade to TVR now and in the future it is not close.

TVR is dirt cheaper, and is locked up for a year longer than Pokka. No matter what happens, Pokka is likely to be more expensive than TVR after next season. I think that alone adds to TVR's value.

those two 10.5 million dollar deals are going to be a big problem going forward, said it before and will say it again. they could have managed to get by with 9M per......if they wanted to keep the core together and remain competitive....

selfish on the part of K & T

I think in this market, D men are getting more than we think. Posters like you, good ones, talked about Jones and adding to him to get the CBJ C guy, Johannsen or something, forget the name. Anyway, all those people turned out to be wrong. Young D men that can play in the NHL are getting more than HF posters are saying they will. That is all I am saying. I can include more trades than Hall or S jones etc if you need me to. So anyway, I think you get an NHL F for him and there is no doubt in my mind. Shaw got 2nd's, TVR is young on a good contract and has played in the top 4 in Chicago, a good team. I think he gets more than you are thinking. Anyway a 2nd is close, so maybe I am splitting hairs. I jsut think an NHL LW would be what we would want.

that was a bad trade for edmonton. The only reason he got value was because he was a former 4th overall with a lot of potential. Larsson literally creates NO offence and has terrible possession numbers. Like god awful

Ryan Johanssen is a center and centers have more value than wings. Jones is a legit future 1D and RJ is a 1C so straight up the trade is fine. Win Win for both teams.

NJD should of had to add a 1st to the trade but Peter Cherrilli is the GM so you had a straight up trade. Hall is a top 10 wing in the NHL and he was traded for a #3 dman who might be a solidish #2. The fact that he was not traded for Subban is shocking to me. Then again we are talking about the same GM who 'had" to move Seguin and did so for Loui Eriksson. Overall that was another bad trade.

TVR has played top 4 but he did it poorly. He is a solid 5-6 dman and is paid accordingly. If we got Kapanen for TVR and a 4th it would be a great deal for the Hawks. He is log jammed in Toronto and the Leafs could use a 5-6 dman with experience in the playoffs (not many games but he was there).

I appreciate the compliment.

Yeah to me that njd d man will be a top pair d man and cheap. I didn't mind mash since I know it wasn't like we were scratching Wayne Gretzky. Edit. I know nothing about this kappnen guy you refer to.

Colborne

Colborne - Toews - Kane
Panarin - Anisimov - Schmaltz
Panik Kruger Hossa
Desjardins Helm Hartman

Keith - Seabrook
Campbell - Hjalmarsson
Gustafsson - TVR

Crawford
Darling

Weise is good IMO, too bad we are not keeping him.

His numbers say he is already a #2 and top Pairing Shutdown D

you know, something of value that you won't notice much unless you see him Play. I'd ****ing love to have Larsson on our roster. Underrated player
