-Honka is good, still question handing him a top 4 job right off the bat however.
-I think Shore should be a 3rd line winger next year.
-Elie can probably handle a 4th line gig.
-Gemel Smith is probably in 1st call up territory for me.
-Dickinson is not ready, he’s an overrated prospect, I’d use him as a trade piece for a defenseman/goalie if at all possible.
-Guryanov needs at least another year.

I'm pretty worried about the immediate future of this team. Outside of Benn and Seguin, we have no real scorers to turn to as forwards. Faksa likely tops out around 40ish points. Jason Spezza is declining. I don't know what Janmark will look like next season.

Pretty bleak when contrasted with how I felt after 15-16.

Honka being paired with Hamhuis for another season would be good for him

Shore impressed me this year, and I see him all over the place in the top 9

Elie looks good for the 4th line

Smith is also good for a bottom 6 role. Good on the PK also

Agreed with Dickinson and G

I don't think they will have a problem handing Honka a top 4 D job next year. Sure looks like he is ready, and similar to JK coming in pretty green, at least, IMHO.

Agree that we don't have a lot of top end talent on the FW ranks, and need some somehow. Agree Spezza is declining, as are Sharp and Hemsky, should they bring them back a year for stop gaps.

Hate to say it, but they may be forced to go cheap on any goalie or D UFA< to save their cash for some high end forward to up scoring. I doubt they will count on those above, or the return of Janmark or Nuke to get scoring back to 3.00 GPG.

Don't get too caught up in the fact that Smith could be a 4th liner next year. A good roster has a 4th line with guys you can trust to play up the lineup. We already have our quota of specialist 4th liners filled out with Cracknell and McKenzie so unless he pushes one of them off the roster we can't afford to have him in the NHL.

I don't really know much about Dallas' roster but I figured I'd make one for the hell of it.

From an outsiders pov I really like the Stars chances of making it to the western conference finals and maybe even all the way to a silver cup.

If I'm off forgive me, I don't watch bearly any stars games, being on the east coast as a Flyers fan.
My Dallas Stars 2017-18 Line-Up

Line 1 LW Benn C Seguin RW Radulov
Line 2 LW Janmark C Hanzal RW Spezza
Line 3 LW Pitlick C Faksa RW Ritchie
Line 4 LW Roussel C Shore RW Cracknell

1st D-Pair LD Lindell RD Klingberg
2nd D-Pair LD Methot RD Johns
3rd D-Pair LD Hamhuis RD Pateryn

Goalie's:
Starter: Bishop
Backup: Lehtonen

Scratched List
LW McKenzie
RW Flynn
LD Nemeth
LD Oleksiak
-----------------
I'd place either McKenzie, Flynn or Oleksiak on waivers to be at a 23 man roster.
RW Umberger ~ (PTO) < release from try out.

Hitchcock's comment about forward pairs:
"Everything up front is on twosomes, not threesomes," Hitchcock said Saturday. "I don't even have a clue linewise. But I like some twosomes. I like [Tyler] Seguin and [Jamie] Benn playing together, I like [Radek] Faksa and [Martin] Hanzal playing together. I like [Mattias] Janmark and [Jason] Spezza together. I like the twosomes and then see what threesomes fit."

At least based on early line suggestions, Radulov has been skating with Benn-Seguin. Ritchie has been skating with Janmark-Spezza. The other two lines were:

Roussel-Faksa-Pitlick
McKenzie-Shore-Cracknell

Hanzal has been hurt. Also, very little chance Julius Honka doesn't make the team. Methot has been with Klingberg, Lindell and Johns have been together, and Hamhuis will likely be with Honka to start. Two of Oleksiak, Nemeth, and Pateryn will not make the team and likely be traded or waived.

The puck drops tonight. I know it's only a pre-season game but the Stars are back baby! :handclap:

Go Stars!

Can't wait to get back into the AA and get on with it!

So I see Kostin scored against the Stars tonight. Prior to this year, the last time we passed on an elite level talent at forward in order to draft a goalie was Tarasenko in 2010. Tarasenko plays for the Blues.. Kostin plays for the Blues... Oettinger = Campbell 2.0??? Makes you think.

Which sucks he looks to be too good to be playing OHL again but probably not ready for the NHL.

I mean, he wasn't necessarily dominant all year in the OHL in 2016-2017. I think it will still be positive for him to be there.

Flint probably would be screwed without him as well. I mean they have billboards advertising with Caamano on it and he's the best player on the team.

I am pretty sure Flint is looking to take a big step forward this year. They just traded a gaudy amount of draft picks to London for a 3rd pairing defenseman.

Why though? He already played some games for Texas last season.

The OHL teams will permit their players to leave for the AHL if they've been knockout out of/didn't make the playoffs.

So, not sure what to think about this

Im guessing Oleksaik would take Johns spot, because it better not be Honkas. I guess if Hitch and Wilson can make something out of him then I'm fine with it

I wouldn't mind seeing Hintz make the team
