Montreal players, in that market, are going to be much more valued in the eyes of voters.

It will be interesting to see how the league handles this. I would think from a legal perspective this could take quite a while to resolve. What happens if they allow full cap relief now but in the end Richards prevails in court? And it does seem awfully convenient for the Kings that Richards has done something that would allow they to simply terminate his contract. I'm not saying he did or didn't but they couldn't have asked for something better with respect to that contract and his cap hit IMO.
