Great win by the Sharks. They were down a goal but they never gave up. I really like the mental toughness of this team.

Soo.... anyone still remember the "What's wrong with the Sharks?" thread on the main boards?:sarcasm:

Miller is a fine broadcaster. He's just boring to listen to is all.

No he really is terrible at broadcasting now. He can't speak clearly anymore and adds tons of "uhhs, ands"; plus he and Fox **** talk during the game. For years he and Fox have mocked the SJ fanbase during Sharks home games.

It's probably the least professional broadcast in the league.

Yeah, he really is terrible. He doesn't bother learning the other team's players' names, so everything is either from the Kings perspective or "the Sharks' forward/defenseman".

Only one step above the LA media that doesn't seem to know the Kings players.

Sharks 3 pts back of the Kings. Don't tell me swapping Stalock for actual goalie doesn't get us there.

The only problem is I'm not sure what backups are available. The ones likely to be available are some other scrubini's like Scrivens. Scrivens is NOT good either. He may or may not be worse than Stalock. If he is better though, it's not by much. And his last good season was Stalock's last good season.

The goalie situation NEEDS to be addressed next year. Forget Grosenick right off the bat. Don't care about his one way deal. Team needs a real backup right off the bat, and Grosenick's AHL numbers don't look even competent for this league.

And Lindback is not a real backup either. It will be nearly the same situation that we're seeing with Stalock. Unless Lindback can give this team approximately 20 starts on par with what he gave Buffalo last season.

Also, I missed the game, but did see the SO win. Soo... what happened?

The super brief synopsis:

Terrible ice.
Wingels injured. (out for at least some time)
No goals through 2 periods.
Terrible ice.
They score a goal first in the 3rd, we tie it up on a slick feed from Thornton behind the net to Couture who'd snuck right into the middle of the slot, who had a easy shot to score.
We dominated most of the 3rd period and the overtime, but couldn't score any more.
Jones made an outstanding save in OT, absolutely robbing someone. (Jones basically stole us this game, pretty much)
Vlasic had this one incredible speed rush attack to the net in OT, and fired off a rocket of a shot.... *PING* bleeping post.
Ice was, shockingly, still terrible.
We get a power play with a little over 90 seconds left in OT, when Hertl breaks the stick of a Calgary player with a slash, and that guy gets called for slashing himself. Panthers understandably livid, but we don't take advantage on the PP, so to the shootout we go.
Shootout:
Their first guy doesn't even come close. Donskoi is our first shooter, and scores with an incredibly slick move to put it 5-hole. Seriously, watch that shot, it's worth it. Dem mitts... Anyway, their #2 shooter scored. Pavelski goes next and scores on a pretty hard shot also into the 5-hole. Their 3rd shooter goes, and Jones saves it. Win! Profit.

There's the game in a nutshell. Helpful?

That was easily some of the worst ice I've ever seen for an NHL game. Even Darryl Sutter would call it bad. When neither team can get any speed or control the puck and at least 6 skaters on each side lose their footing..its terrible.

Sorry if someone already mentioned that, but I found it interesting. In one of the interviews Hertl was joking, that he never lost against Jagr. Apperentely his aim is to let it stay this way, so he can always say to him, that he (Jagr) has all these records, but he still never won against him (Hertl). -)

Here is the score:
  • Kladno - Slavia 2:3 (2012/13)(Jágr 0+1)
  • Slavia - Kladno 4:3SN (2012/13)(Jágr 0+2)
  • San Jose - New Jersey 2:1 (2013/14)
  • New Jersey - San Jose 2:4 (2014/15)(Jágr 0+1)
  • San Jose - Florida 5:2 (2015/16)(Hertl 0+1)
  • Florida - San Jose 1:2SN (2015/16)(Jágr 1+0)
