He’s ok, just had some Cheerios. So how's Topias Vilen?
Looks like Vilen did not get selected to play for Finland at the WJC.
Any news on his progress?
Not overly exciting but seems like a guy who may have some depth potential in a few years or more. Always nice to have young dmen in Utica to watch especially if guys like Bahl and Okhotiuk graduate. How do we feel about this? Sounds encouraging
Vilen's likely scenario is a sort of White role, where he's a solid AHL defender who can be called up to the big club in a pinch to play some steady defense. His upside is a solid, stay-at-home 3rd pairing LD.How do we feel about this? Sounds encouraging
Adirondack?Vilen to Utica, Bahl\Okhotiuk to Devils, Smith to ?
Looked really good today in the scrimmage. Will be exciting to see how he does in Utica this year.
Only 19 years old, might have some NHL potential in a few years. Is a solid skater but could do to add a little bit of speed.
My bad. I knew we had signed him and with that was thinking he was playing in Utica for some reason.Vilen is staying in Finland this year, he'll play in Utica in 2023-24.
Scored 2 goals in 1 game (his team won 2-1), including this with 9 seconds left:
4 goals this season already after scoring 0 goals last season.
To me, Vilen was the surprise at the prospects camp. I really liked his game and hadn't realized he was this mobile and active offensively. I really liked his game. Would be really cool to get another good prospect from the later rounds.Already signed to an entry level contract and from all accounts, had a terrific training camp this season. We will get a good look at him at the WJC but after his hot start, it is starting to look like NJ may have gotten a decent prospect at this stage....another 5th rounder.
