Just a reminder for those contemplating suicide..

2 wins against the Hurricanes and the Caps are the closest they have been to the SE since the first week of the season...

No word on Orlov playing. Played Saturday and Sunday with Hershey, had an assist the 2nd game on the PP.

good to hear he's playing again, but doesn't Orlov prefer/excel playing on the right side, despite shooting left? Thats going to be a major problem for Oates.

Canes defense is no longer ECHL caliber though. No way we take both games.

Having gone 10-13-1 in the first half of the season, we probably need to go something like 16-6-2 in the 2nd half to make it. Tall order. We need to get at least 3 of 4 points from the Canes this week.

The good news is we have arguably underachieved the 1st half of the season, and some teams above us have overachieved (Sens, Leafs, Ward-less 'Canes, maybe even Devils). Of course, if the team that played this past weekend is who our team is, we're all wasting our time following them.

They need all 4, in regulation. 3 means the Canes got at least one too.

To that end, Caps recall defenseman Cameron Schilling from Hershey. Looks like they'll be icing 3 Bears defensemen (Schilling, Kundratek, Oleksy) and probably spells bad news for Erskine.

Well then it looks like instead of the Canes icing a minor league D it will be the Caps. Funny how things change. It's good the Caps waived Hamr too - not that he could clean up this mess. Oh well - good experience for the kids.

Hammer TOI with Rangers
- 15 minutes in game against Senators
- 7 minutes in game against Islanders
- Healthy scratch against Caps

He may already have issues with Torts, conditioning etc.. Time to move on.

Changing of the guard along the Caps blue line.

If we're going to play positionally unsound defense (and I wouldn't bet against it), then our D guys should at least be able to skate. The Poti-Schultz pairing on Sunday combined positional unsoundness with lack of mobility - it wasn't pretty.

#Caps upbeat this morning, perhaps no one as much as Joel Ward who kept singing the beginning to Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the Worldâ€.

Three Dog Night's, hmm. Could be a premonition as to tonights game as the previous two against the Islanders and the Rangers were both dogs.
