Are we seriously debating whether to trade mcilrath for drouin straight up when mcilrath can't even get into the lineup and guys like nash. Kreider. Hayes and miller can't buy a goal to save their collective lives ?

Seriously ?

Are you seriously acting like "McIlrath can't even get into the lineup?"

McIlrath was arguably our best defender when he was playing. It's not his fault our coach is a ****ing moron. And for what it's worth, Drouin "can't even get on his team."

Rangers don't need offense. They need defense. Just because we have long-term contracts handed out, doesn't mean this team doesn't need defense. If Staal and Girardi are kept for the length of their contracts, we will experience another dark ages period.

Oh come on. His play can not be defended.

He has ovechkin along the wall. Ok, so smash him.or bump him. Do something. Instead he let's him fly by and puts his arm out and then after ovechkin screams by him nash is in full coast mode as ovi scores on a defenseless hank.

#notacceptableat8mill

you forget our Capt McD in your story(,after flying by Nash ) then OV cut in on him and slid the shot between his legs to our defenseless(not) Hank.

In this one case Off the crossbar is right. The side boards were right there. Nash is 240 pounds. He can't just let OV skate right by him untouched. If Nash would have put any type of body on OV that would at least slow OV down. That was horrible defense by Nash.

Stalberg has more goals (6) and assists (8) this season alone than Glass has had the past two seasons combined. Plus he's got wheels, and he can kill penaltys. But yea definitely Stalberg should be cut

Tanner Glass cannot be evaluated by mere statistics.

lol at "McIlrath can't even get into the lineup"

AV would play Girardi over Chris Pronger.

If Nash is 240 then Kreider is 265.

Nash was trying to poke the puck off his stick to cause an odd man break the other way, he pulls that poke check off all the time on the boards. It didn't work here because it was Ovy with a full head of steam, not really sure what we realistically expect any forward on our team to do there in that situation. It's easy to say he should've bodied him, but come on, cut him a little slack it's friggin Ovechkin barreling in full speed, Nash isn't a defenseman we can't expect him to perfectly angle him into the boards.

The biggest problem with that play is Stepan missing the wide open net.

here's a crazy thought, how about these guys are playing as extra D to you know, learn how the **** to play defense?

Because god knows each and every one of our young guys has played trash defense at one point or another this year. Miller in particular.

I don't think an NHL coach with his resume is just gonna randomly put guys out like that for no reason.

good lord. seriously ? nash is forgiven for attempting the stevie wonder defense there cause stepan something something.... ??

and the "trying to poke check it away to start an odd man break the other way" trick. that never works.

he was playing the exact same defense that marc staal uses.

if you watch that play, theres so much fail there its both funny and sad but probably more sad. nash really avoids all contact with mr ovechkin, even though ovi chooses to go to the left towards the wall where smart forward would have cut him off atleast. had he cut to the middle of the ice, i could maybe see it, but no. nash failed by not even attempting to put a hip into ovi.

C'mon man, Ovechkin made a world-class play because that's just a normal day at work for Ovi. Ovechkin flying down the ice with the puck at full speed is borderline unstoppable. Do you remember when he literally skated through Girardi AND McDonagh, was falling, and still ripped one top shelf past Lundqvist in the playoffs?

I'm not saying Nash played that play well or anything, but Ovi was scoring that no matter who was on the ice at the time.

I see what you're saying. However, as mentioned, Ovechkin's coming full speed. It's never ideal to have a forward skating backwards playing like a defenseman. Ovechkin had too much speed for Nash to do anything, imo.

you forget our Capt McD in your story(,after flying by Nash ) then OV cut in on him and slid the shot between his legs to our defenseless(not) Hank.

Did OV go around McD and I missed it? He stayed in front of him so he shot from 25 feet out and Hank gave him the 10 hole for the game winner. Speaking of Hank, that 3rd goal cannot happen. A wrister from the point (screened or not) hits him in the bread basket and he leaves it between his legs for the tap in. Horrible. Don't forget the Caps had the extra skater; at least one guy will be open and we play man to man. He must control that puck and force the draw with 7 seconds left. The Caps were buzzing and the best shot they could get was a wrister from the point. The D wasn't perfect but the goalie must control that puck.

Such negative Nansies around here. We come back from two goals down against a team that hasn't lost a game like that all year against a goalie who hasn't lost in regulation in two months and if our guy could control a wrist shot from the point or McD finishes the 2 on 1 we win the game. It was a pretty impressive outing considering what the Caps have been doing to all other teams lately; including us a few weeks back.

Watch Mci be scratched despite being a difference maker against the Bruins last game.

“@stevezipay: Lindberg and McIlrath join the coaches on ice. They'll be the scratches it appears.”
